Head Peak 82 All Mountain Skis

Most skiers know this ski as the Monster 82, but it has been rebadged with a couple new features for the 2011 season. The Head Peak 82 now has Flow Ride technology at the shovel, to give some of the effects of an early rise ski, without loosing the stability at higher speeds and more aggressive turning. The dampening that the Monster series is well known for is carried through the Peak series, and the Peak 82 can plow through any terrain without the jolting and jarring of less technologically advanced skis. This ski is fast and stable, yet remarkably easy to turn and control at slower speeds.

Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.''

Ideal Target Skier: Weekend Warrior/Charger: These skiers were once upon a time ski bums, or very proficient skiers in college, then landed an internship that led to a 70 hour work week and a spouse and 2.5 kids. They are still great skiers, and ski hard every chance they get on steeps, moguls, powder... whatever they can get their hands on.

Speed: Very Fast: Skiing at this speed means keeping up with the best skiers on the mountain, while still maintaining control.

Sandwich ConstructionSandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the rounded Cap construction found on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Flow Ride Technology: A small section of the core at the tip of the ski is milled out, and reinforced with an elastomer material. This softens the tip for easier turning at slower speeds and in powder snow, but is still stable at higher speeds because the effective edge length has not changed.

UHM C Base: The most durable, quickest base material on the market. It requires very little maintenance and allows your skis to do what they are made to do until you decide you've hit so many rocks that it needs a tune.

Head's Intelligence technology: is essentially an array of fibers inside of the ski or snowboard that absorb the mechanical energy that your muscles are putting into the ski, and convert them to electrical energy. The more energy the fibers absorb, the stiffer the ski becomes. So the faster you go the more stable this ski is. We were the first one to say that this was just some gimmick jargon, but the stuff actually works.

ABS Sidewall: ABS provides better edge hold than other materials and construction types. It will also withstand impacts with rocks and terrain features (rails, boxes, your friend) more effectively when compared to cap style construction.
