Plastic ratchets: Lightweight and pretty strong, these are usually found on the price point bindings and for beginner/junior riders. Giant Ankle Strap: An oversized ankle strap spreads the force over a greater area, helping eliminate any pressure points, and provides a solid interface between the boot and binding. Quick Adjust Straps: No tools are needed to make basic adjustments to the strap(s) of this binding. Even though most resorts have a bunch of tools next to the lifts, its nice having the ability to fix or tighten them mid run. Impact pads: Foam or rubber pads on the top side of the baseplate installed to cushion harsh landings and bumpy terrain. They smooth out the ride and make a more comfortable ride. Baseplate Cover: The baseplate has a foam flap reinforced with plastic that covers the disc and hardware. This helps in preventing ice build up, provides a nice flat surface for the boot, and has some cushion to it for added comfort. Aluminum heelcup: Aluminum is used as the heelcup of this binding to add strength and durability. It is a spot that is subject to a lot of abuse during aggressive riding and throwing the board in the back of a pickup, so aluminum increases the durability. Anatomical Baseplate: All this means is there is a designated left and right binding that match the shape of each boot better. Composite Baseplate/Highback: This baseplate and highback is reinforced with composite fibers to get extra strength in critical spots. Extra strength without extra weight...always a good idea. 4 Hole Disc: This binding has the standard 4 hole pattern to fit any snowboard, except Burton. Adjustable Forward Lean: Adjust the position of the highback for more flexibility for freestyle, or more forward to get better performance at high speed. High Grade Plastic Highback: A nice high back built to give you comfort and response, and built to take some punishment and keep ticking. Adjustable Heelcup: The heelcup can be moved to fit smaller or larger boots, which helps position the ball of the foot in the right spot for better edging and control. Padded Baseplate: Some padding on the baseplate to get extra cushion between the boot and the binding that absorbs shock from big jumps or vibrations from choppy terrain. UTS Toe Strap: (Universal Toe Strap) This strap can be used as a standard over-the-toe strap, or as a toe cap style strap. |
