Atomic 2012 Blog Twin Tip Powder Skis

The Atomic 2012 Blog skis are awesome, and thats a pretty much universally accepted fact. The Blogs have a cap-sidewall hybrid construction which makes the tips and tails are a bit softer for easier turn initiation, but the meat of the planks have a double thick super robust sidewall. These skis are also rockered, known as Atomic's Pop Rocker 10, where the tips and tails have a 10mm early rise, but the effective edge of the ski has a traditional flat camber. The purpose of this type of rocker is to make the skis stable and fast when you're ripping crud and groomers, but give you enough shovel to nimbly slash powder turns. For good skiers who ski big mountains in search of powder and off-trail adventures, this ski will be perfect.

Discounted Ski Bindings: Lowest price and now discounteds bindings for these skis. Click the dropdown above but we have some awesome older binding models for 2012 skis only for a limited time. We aren't kidding.. check the first few binding options and don't dawdle supplies are limited.

Free L9 Poles: A little love from L9 to you in the form of a free composite Levelninesports.com ski pole. A comparable pole retails for $60 and we sell these for $24 normally. This free pole is for a few select skis as a little sweetener on the already lowest price.

Ideal Target Skier: Powder Hound: If you use your sick days only when it snows 12'' or more overnight and not when you're actually sick, this ski is probably for you. Powder Hounds are on the search for deep and untouched powder, and fat skis to ski it with.

Skier Ability: Upper Intermediate to Advanced: Skiing most black diamond runs, but cautiously or at moderate speeds.

Speed: Fast: At this speed, these skiers are passing most of the others on blue square runs, and keeping up with most skiers on black diamond runs.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Step Down Sidewall Construction: This ski features Cap construction at the tip and tail for added durability and to reduce topsheet chipping, and has Sandwich construction underfoot for greater edge hold and power through the turns. Its the best of both worlds, a stiff rigid ski where it needs to be, and a soft and turnable ski where it doesn't.

UHM Base: A maintenance free durable base. You may want to wax it up for springtime slush, other than that you can concentrate on other things.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Tail Rocker: Just like Tip rocker, but in the tail, this feature allows the tails of the skis to release easier from the turn to give the skier the ability to turn the skis quicker in tight spots. It also allows skiers to dump speed by forcing the tails out and sliding sideways. The effective edge is reduced because of the tail rocker, so the skis will also be easier to control when forced to ski on the groomed slopes.

Hybrid Sidecut: This ski has normal sidecut underfoot for edge grip on firmer snow, but has reverse sidecut toward the tip and tail for powder performance. Reverse sidecut gives the ski the ability to smear turns, reduces or eliminates 'hooking' of tips and tails, and with the help of rocker, makes skiing powder easier.

ABS Sidewall: ABS provides better edge hold than other materials and construction types. It will also withstand impacts with rocks and terrain features (rails, boxes, your friend) more effectively when compared to cap style construction.

Twin tip skis: are where its at these days. Their versatility allows you to ski powder in the morning, bumps at midday, and session the park in the afternoon. The turned up tail is also optimal for skiing backwards (switch), but for most people, it just looks cool.

Atomic's Pop Rocker 10: Pop Rocker 10 means that the tip and tails have a 10mm early rise, so the ski will be agile and bouncy in deep snow (or you could say, 'poppy').
