The Atomic Hatchet was such a popular seller for so long that Atomic had no choice but to roll out a more feminine version of the Hatchet. Enter the 2012 Atomic Fallen Angel snowboard, which has all of the features of the uber-popular Hatchet, but a narrower waist measurement and slightly softer flex for ladies. Since the fairer sex are generally lighterweight and have smaller feet, these differences, though slight, will make a world of difference to a female rider.

Atomic Board Flex Rating: 4: Atomic's Flex Ratings go from 2 (soft) to 8 (stiff), so this board is on the lower end of stiffness. Softer boards require less muscle to turn, and will be smooth and stable at a lower range of speeds. Soft snowboards are also much easier to manhandle in the halfpipe and terrain park. At a rating of 4, the rider of this board would be a progressing intermediate or a casual advanced rider looking for a suitable All-Mountain flex.

Atomic Women's Snowboards: Want to compare this board to some of the other Women's Boards from Atomic? Check out or Learn Center to see how it stacks up!

Atomic's Pop Rocker AT (All Terrain) is a rocker shape that offers the benefits of a reverse camber snowboard, such as easier turn initiation and superior float in powder. The Pop Rocker AT shape has a longer rockered section in the nose than in the tail, so when you want to rip groomers fast, you will have a strong edge hold on your heelside (when riding switch, the stronger edge will be your toe-side).

7000 Impact Base: This base is first extruded and then sintered, so it is hard and fast (like a sintered base) and requires low maintenance (like an extruded base). This is literally the best of both worlds.

2.5 Degree (Park) Bevel: The 2.5 degree bevel eliminates rail and kicker hangups and lets you stick landings on spins that you didn't quite spin enough.

Truth 1 Wood Core Truth1 uses 100% Poplar for a consistent flex tip-to-tail, and long-term durability.

Kevlar Armor Struts: Kevlar rods inside the board run from the inner insert to the tip and tail, and Kevlar is a very high strength-to-weight ratio material. So basically adding Kevlar struts to the core of the board make it stiffer, poppier, and more durable without adding much weight.

Biaxal Sandwich Construction: While stiffer than a Cap construction snowboard, this Biax Sandwich board is torsionally soft to help the rider manhandle the board and gain confidence.

Twin Progressive Sidecut: The sidecut used in most (good) park boards, a Twin Progressive sidecut lets you get in and out of turns quickly and easily. This sidecut is best for spinning, jumping, riding switch and just playing around in general--and they are worst at railing icy groomers at Mach 5.
