Atomic 2012 FFG 16 Team Ski Bindings

Atomic's freeride team, by and large, uses the FFG 16 Team, which has a high DIN range of 9-16 and should only be used by aggressive expert skiers. The FFG 16s have steel housing which makes them heavy duty, durable, bombproof bindings. The DIN range of these bindings is only suitable for experts who will be cranking their bindings to their personal preferences, as even the minimum DIN setting of 9 is still very high, and would be higher than recommended for most skiers. But if you're the type of skier that flies off of big jumps, falls off of big cliffs, and need some heavy duty clamps to keep your boots locked to your skis--well, these might just be the clamps you were looking for.

Features:

Din range: 9-16

Skier weight range: Adult Experts Only

Stand Height: 16.5mm (low profile)

Brake Width: Available in 115mm and 130mm.

Super Sturdy Steel Heel Track: The Atomic FFG Team series feature a steel, single piece, machine bored heel track that is as close to unbreakable as we've ever seen. The heel track of most bindings is bent, rounded steel that is about 1 or 2 mm thick, these heel tracks have not been bent into shape but instead have had their shape bored out of a solid thick piece of metal.

Automatic Wing Adjustment: The toe of this binding automatically adjusts to the slightly different width among ski boots. This means it is one less adjustment to fuss with. Just step into the binding and go skiing.

Elastic Pedal: The AFD under the ball of the foot allows for proper function even when ice, dirt, or snow get stuck to the bottom of the boot.

Stomp Pedal Shock Absorber: Essentially what these means is that the plastic directly beneath the toe of your boot is a little flexier than the other parts of the binding, which helps absorb some shock (like in bumps or landing jumps).

Steel Housing: Both the toe and heel pieces of this binding are housed by very durable steel. It makes the binding a bit heavier than one that uses more plastic, but it also means that these bindings will stand up to abuse as well as any.

These are great bindings marketed to the freeride crowd. The low stand height and wide brake arms included are great features for the Park and Powder skiers who want better balance and have wider skis.
