Atomic's 2012 PIQ ETR (Easy-To-Ride) boards were made to satisfy rental boarders of all types. The generous edge bevel will help novices smear their turns and catch fewer edges, but the medium flex and full wood core will take a lot more speed than what most 'beginner' snowboards normally would. Since these boards were made for rental shops, they have a nearly indestructible graphite base and a rugged scratch proof topsheet. Although this board is easy to learn on...you really could ride it anywhere and it'll take the beating, pop right back up and ask for more.

If you're buying this board for a big-footed rider, check out one of the WIDE ones, it will be a better platform for a big foot.

Atomic Board Flex Rating: 4: Atomic's Flex Ratings go from 2 (soft) to 8 (stiff), so this board is on the lower end of stiffness. Softer boards require less muscle to turn, and will be smooth and stable at a lower range of speeds. Soft snowboards are also much easier to manhandle in the halfpipe and terrain park. At a rating of 4, the rider of this board would be a progressing intermediate or a casual advanced rider looking for a suitable All-Mountain flex.

Target Rider: All Juniors!: Junior snowboards are more or less one-style-fits all, as most board companies will just make a single model of junior boards (or maybe a girl's one and a boy's one). These means that there aren't really any 'expert' kid's snowboards, though any board with a wood core will be more than advanced enough for the best little shredders.

Atomic's Pop Rocker ET (Easy Turn): Atomic Pop Rocker ET is the best rocker profile for the snowboarders who are just learning, as the rockered sections in the tip and tails make the board easier to turn (requires less power from the rider), and also make the tips and tails virtually immune to edge catching. For riders looking to gain confidence, this is definitely the rocker of choice from Atomic.

3 Degree (Easy to Ride) Bevel:
The 3 degree bevel minimizes edge catching and builds confidence via a shortened learning curve.

Graphite Rental Base: This ultra durable, ultra rugged base will require very little maintenance, which is great for kids that are...adventurous to say the least. Also if you're planning on passing a snowboard down from kid to kid, this is an awesomely durable choice.

Truth 1 Wood Core Truth1 uses 100% Poplar for a consistent flex tip-to-tail, and long-term durability.

Biaxal Sandwich Construction: While stiffer than a Cap construction snowboard, this Biax Sandwich board is torsionally soft to help the rider manhandle the board and gain confidence.

Aluminum Tip and Trail Protector: Following the super-rugged theme, these boards have layer of aluminum that wraps from the steel-edge to the topsheet. Just a little feature to keep your nose and tail from taking core shots.

The topsheet of this snowboard is textured to avoid scratches and gashes!
