Atomic Board Flex Rating: 6: Atomic's Flex Ratings go from 2 (soft) to 8 (stiff), so this board is in the upper end of stiffness. Stiffer boards have higher top speeds, have better stability at speed and better stability through bumpy/choppy terrain--but softer boards are easier to learn on and easier to do terrain park tricks with. At a rating of 6, the rider using this board would be a strong All-Mountain snowboarder that may do laps in the park every once in a while but is more often than not shredding around somewhere off-piste.
Atomic's S-Poontech Rocker is a rocker shape that makes the board feel shorter when flat, but gives you surpreme edge hold when put on edge. S-Poontech boards are awesome all-terrain boards for riders who like to go fast and ride everything.
7000 Impact Base: This base is first extruded and then sintered, so it is hard and fast (like a sintered base) and requires low maintenance (like an extruded base). This is literally the best of both worlds.
1 Degree Power Bevel: This minimal edge angle allows for quicker edge to edge transitions than more exaggerated bevels. This edge bevel is built for speed and stability, but not for beginners, as you are more likely to catch an edge.
Truth2 CNC Wood Core: The Truth2 Core features tip to tail poplar, as well as inserts for added strength and milled-out channels for reduced weight. This core is stiffer and poppier than the Truth1 core without adding any additional weight. D4 Sandwich Construction: This type of sandwich (full sidewall) construction sandwiches 4 layers of glass in between the poplar woodcore sections. There are definitely more complicated ways of describing this technology, but it would be hard for both of us to understand. Basically D4 construction means this board is extremely lively and poppy, so when you load it up with a turn, its going to accelerate you out of the turn. Triadic Progressive Sidecut: A sidecut of this shape allows the rider to ease into wider turns without hooking, then make the turn as tight as desired as the rider accelerates through the middle of the turn and come out of the turn without losing much (if any) energy. |
