Defiance 2012 Pure Turn Skis w/Bindings

The Defiance Pure Turn has quite possibly the most user friendly shape that any ski, ever, anywhere, has ever had. Sounds like exaggeration, and maybe it is a little, but really this ski will basically turn for you. The difference between the tip width (120mm) and the waist width (71mm) provides such an arc that after the skier initiates a carved turn, the ski wants to complete the turn on its own. The tips of the Pure Turns have and early rise/rocker camber which is yet another feature that will make these babies all the more manageable. The ski takes its cue from you, and then geometry does the rest. The shape flex and early rise make this an ideal ski for learning on and for any intermediate stage skier. And when you decide it's time to give powder a go it's a good introductory ski for that too while you decide if you want to shell out real money for a true powder ski (you do but lets worry about that in a few years.)

Adjustable Bindings Included: This Defiance Ski product comes with an adjustable Tyrolia Railflex Lite 9 Binding included in the price. A din range of 2-9 is appropriate for most all recreational skiers. However, this binding will only accommodate a sole length up to 325mm. This is about a men's size 10. If you have a boot bigger than that you MUST choose the SRL100 binding option.

As far as appearance, both Defiance ski models are a perfect match for the default binding included and we do not recommend the more expensive SRL100 unless it is required because of your boot size.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. Its 2011 galdarnit! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Skier Ability: Beginner to Intermediate: Versatile enough to handle first time skiers all the way up to seasoned intermediates.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap ConstructionCap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Glossy Topsheet: The finish of this ski is glossy to help keep snow from sticking to it and to look pretty fancy.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Let's make it clear, this is not a stiff ski designed for high speeds. If you like to go zoom zoom zoom all the day long this ski is not for you. The reason I.m telling you that is because if you don't ski fast this ski is near perfect. It loves to turn.. it invites learning. it's playful in any conditions. There are a few skis we would compare it to that major manufacturers sell from $399-$499, but they our are friends so we won't do that. What we will do is offer an unconditional 1 year guarantee: Ski on them all season and if you don't like them we will give you full credit for whatever you want.
