Ideal Target Skier: Weekend Warrior/Charger: These skiers were once upon a time ski bums, or very proficient skiers in college, then landed an internship that led to a 70 hour work week and a spouse and 2.5 kids. They are still great skiers, and ski hard every chance they get on steeps, moguls, powder... whatever they can get their hands on. Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.'' Speed: Very Fast: Skiing at this speed means keeping up with the best skiers on the mountain, while still maintaining control. A ski specially designed for use in ungroomed conditions with a bit more on-piste versatility. Show everyone who the boss on the slopes is! For advanced and expert skiers with a 70/30 powder to piste ratio. Well, Head I hope you're finished. The head Wild Thang in three years has gone from a somewhat soft 72mm waisted ski, to this year being a full fledged monster 82. Don't get me wrong, the monster 82 may be the most versatile ski in the Head line for expert skiers, but when will it end? I suggest you buy now, next season the wild thang may be moved up to a Mojo 103. This ski looks awesome.. it is the best looking Head ski in the 08 line. Features: Intelligence System - No chatter here Liquid metal technology - a full layer of the latest technology for optimal performance and rebound X-Frame - Head's proven core technology Titanium Alloy - strength without the weight Liquidmetal Jacket - for the ultimate in rebound power without a ski that feels like a 2X4 Twintip - for freedom. Like it's brother who ate a little bit more, the Monster 82 is truly a beefcake. It's obvious that its big size makes it dynamite for powder or any variable snow conditions, what may not be so obvious is that this ski can still cut up the rug with a reasonable turn radius. What may be hidden if you do not read between the lines is the Sandwich construction, this is a serious ski designed to handle serious force. If you don't put force on your ski, and I mean serious force (via speed, steeps, big air, whatever) you will not be able to flex this ski. Head says your variable snow skiing percentage here should be about 70%, if you spend a bit more time on trail head over to our not quite as beefy Monster 77's, if you spend more time off trail the Monster 88s is your ski. |
