Head Ski Boot Features

Head Ski Boot FeaturesEverything you want to know about Head ski boot features

LIVE AND LET RIDE. The most important factor in ski boots is fit. And since every foot is just a bit different, fit has a lot to do with customization. HEAD custom fitting begins with a broad choice of perfectly shaped, adaptive liners, continues with the Full Custom System between liner and shell, and ends with customizing options.

LAST, BUT NEVER LEAST

The last of a ski boot, although completely invisible, is one of the most important fit-factors. HEAD boots, shell and liner, are built around seven different lasts, each tuned to match the requirements of a certain type of skier.

THE FOUR FACTORS OF FIT.
1. FOREFOOT WIDTH
2. HEEL WIDTH
3. ANKLE WIDTH
4. HEEL/INSTEP CIRCUMFERENCE

HEAD LASTS.

RD
The epitome of a racing last, developed together with Bode Miller. Geared towards a perfect anatomical wrap around the foot and optimum foot retention.

RS
Our new 2007+ expert last, used both in racing and pro-freeride boots, finds the right kind of sports car balance for everyday, all day charging.

N100 FCS (100 mm)
Very precise fit for professional and expert skiers, focused on high performance without sacrificing comfort.

M103 FCS (103 mm)
Comfortable fit combined with high-precision geometry in the ankle and heel region, focused on balancing performance and comfort.

WP
Women Performance Last this 100% women's last was developed together with the HEAD International Women's Team, fully focused on the morphological differences between men and women.

C 104 (104 mm)
The benchmark in both ease of entry and riding precision, the most widely appreciated HEAD last around the world.

W106 (106 mm)
Super-comfortable last focused on providing the best in-store, on-slope and apres-ski fit on the market.

DOUBLE POWER VELCRO

For a particularly snug fit, many HEAD liners boast the Double Power Velcro, a wide Velcro strap system with double-pulley-action and 100% more closing power. The length of the Double Power Velcro can be customized to wide or narrow by choosing between the internal or external ring.

HEAD FLEX INDEX.

The style, ability, weight, and power of a skier define what flex rating that skier is going to need. HEAD boots use a variety of materials and design features to make sure every rider finds his or her match. Every boot in Head's 2007+ collection has a specific Flex Index, spanning from 50 (Junior boot = rather soft) to 150 (Raptor 150 = very stiff). The softer a boot, the more forward flex movement is obtained by applying a certain force, and the lower the flex index is. Recreational skier typically want a flex rating under 100 and more aggressive skiers typically want a higher rating.

HEAD LINERS

PRO Liner
With a thin but supportive layer of thermo-moldable lining, the PRO liner adapts to the anatomy of a rider. Custom ankle inserts (cork in the Racing PRO and Performance PRO liner, HeatFit in the HF PRO liner) span from extreme high-performance to more comfort. An adjustable tongue and optional laces (included) on the Racing PRO Liner provide for incredible wrap. Custom Foam Liner also available.

SuperHeat 3
Top performing liner featuring adaptive lining in ankle, heel, tongue, and insole areas. Multi-component construction keeps its performance characteristics over an exceptionally long life-span.

HeatFit High Performance/HeatFit
State-of-the-art technical multi-component liner with self-molding inserts in liner and tongue in the High Performance version. Legendary fit and comfort.

Note
All-mountain HEAD liners and footbeds are treated with Sanitized anti-microbial protection.

BUCKLE UP FOR COMFORT

+ Almost every HEAD boot comes with Microadjustments where you can spin the buckles clockwise and it will make the fit tighter or if you want the buckles looser you can spin them counterclockwise.
+ The HEAD Double Power Buckle increases the leverage of the buckle by 100% and halves the effort required to buckle in.
+ The HEAD Supermacro Ratchet provides 28mm of calf adjustment at the push of a button.
+ The HEAD Flip Up is a new buckle system that prevents the buckle from engaging while you're strapping in. Look ma, no hands!
+ The HEAD Easy Macro Buckle lets a rider custom adjust both cuff buckles by 16 and 19mm.

NEW!
HEAD Spine-Tech Buckles are and alloy buckle system that combines the regular fixed bridge buckle with a more curved ladder shape. This allows the buckle to be closed more tightly, as well as allows more overlap of the shell flaps, which reduces pressure points and gives a more precise and comfortable fit. This technology is found in the 2012 AdaptEdge 100 HPF boot.

FULL CUSTOM SYSTEM The Full Custom System II is an evolution of the successful system that has permitted HEAD to match the needs for last and flex customization of each consumer. When we talk about ski boots for expert skiers we are talking about products that must be at the maximum level of performance and ski control. The perfect boot for everybody does not exist, especially when we look at the following:

1 - Obviously the best skiers all have different feet and each requires a different fit.

2 - They also have very precise needs in terms of balance, stance, the boot's flexibility and elastic response.

In order to solve these two aspects HEAD has developed the Full Custom System which is made of a patented and innovative solution offered on RS and S line permitting to choose the last of boot depending on the customer's needs by using two different interchangeable wedges: N100 FCS and M103 FCS. Moreover the new FCS II is made with new, softer material to enhance the adaptability of the frame to the shell.

1 - The Fit

The more you need a precise fit the more you need an anatomically correct, customized internal last. This represents one of the most critical aspects in the process of selecting the right product. The Full Custom System II offers the possibility to select two different lasts in the same shell: N100 FCS and M103 FCS.

The first is characterized by a PU frame that can be customized to the foot morphology by using a simple cutter, looking for the perfect fit and the maximum performance. Customization is made more simple thanks to the pre-marked lines on the wedge, which have been determined to solve the most important problems. The second insert is ideal for those looking for the perfect compromise between comfort and performance. Any boot featuring M103 FCS can have N100FCS as an option.

2 - Balance Stance and Flexibility

The Full Custom System also provides the greatest degree of adaptability of the fit to different flex and elastic rebound performance granted by the different materials used in the collection.

The fit is 100% independent from flex and performance. Compromise is no longer required. If your customer needs the stiffest boot with the widest fit or vice versa you will be able to create the perfect boot without any limitations.

The Full Custom System and your experience will be the perfect combination to offer the perfect boot for the elite skier.

ADJUSTABLE SPOILER
Some like it high, some like it low - HEAD's adjustable spoilers let you adapt the height of the calf support depending on your anatomy and your specific performance requirements. On women's models the calf circumferences can be adjusted by 1 cm.

FLEX ADJUSTMENT
Flex adjustment is both a question of terrain and of riding style. On Head performance boots, one screw lets you choose between a softer or stiffer suspension.

CANTING
Canting is the adjustment to compensate for knock kneed or bowlegged skiers. The cuff of many Head ski boots can be adjusted in or out a few degrees. Depending on a skier's anatomy, a couple of degrees can make a world of difference.

ANATOMICAL ANKLE INSERTS
Pre-formed anatomical ankle inserts in some liners let you choose the amount of heel-hold you need. Put them in for performance. Take them out for comfort.

DOUBLE POWER VELCRO
100% less effort in fastening the velcro for a real 5th buckle effect granting shinbone contact to the tongue of the liner for better skiing performance and edge to edge rapidity.

COMFORTOES
HEAD liners feature a spacious, soft, and insulating toe box, designed to maintain mobility of your toes without compromising power transmission while skiing.
