Additional Summary: This is a lively, playful and fun ski that is just demanding enough to help lower intermediates progress their skiing, and perfectly casual enough for the advanced intermediate looking for a quick and sleek groomer-cruiser. These skis have a wide enough platform to plow through crud and a bit of powder here and there, or meander through the trees, or even struggle through the moguls if you're a mogully-type. But the real target skier here is one that spends most of the time (80%) on the groomed trails, with the expeditions off trail being a significant chunk, but a minority nonetheless (thats 20% for those of you playing at home). Since these skis are primarily going to be used on hardpack/groomed terrain, they are really ideal for intermediates anywhere--they'll carve the ice in Michigan or the glorious packed powder in Utah or the Sierra Cement that our friends to the West enjoy or whatever type of snow happens to be found in your neighborhood, mate. Ideal Target Skier: Progressing Intermediate: This skier is pushing the limits of the intermediate badge, and getting off trail and figuring out how to get comfortable at higher speeds through variable terrain. Intermediate Ski Comparisons: <--Click for help in deciding between this and some of our other intermediate skis. Speed: Moderate: The speed most intermediate skiers travel at, Moderate means they like to ski faster than beginners, but are never the fastest skiers on a run. Synthetic Core: A lightweight flexible ski core designed to help skiers master turning and stay out of harms way by making the ski nimble. Synthetic cores are great for those learning to master the art of skiing because they turn easily, but top speed skiers may prefer stiffer skis. Fiber Jacket: A solid topsheet that provides a good blend of stability and performance without extra weight. Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.
Textured Surface: Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice.
You can choose to upgrade from the SL 100 to the similar but adjustable SRL-100 for a little bit more, but these skis come standard with the SL 100s. And since the SL 100s are drilled into a plate, and not into the core of the ski, you could consider the SL 100 adjustable also, but not adjustable by hand. SL 100 Features: DIN: 3-10 Riser Plate:Head PP9, 9mm rise provides additional lift to make carving and learning to carve easier. Diagonal SL toe: Diagonally release SuperLight toe for maximum safety and minimum weight. SL Heel: Sturdy, SuperLight heelpiece. |
