A plasticy feeling upper means 'cheap' for some, and for others it means 'extremely waterproof.' We're going with the latter. The Lamar Force is in the One Series, meaning it is built around the needs of the beginner to low intermediate rider. The lace up liner does provide the support needed for more advanced riders, but maxes out before the advanced level is obtained. The faux leather exterior is more vinyl-like than other boots, so don't expect it to be anything like leather.
Appropriate ability levels. The L9 Listers say: Family Ski Trip The L9 team says: Cruiser

Ski Boot Tongue PullTongue Pull: A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.

Removable Liner: This boot comes with a removable liner. Removable liners have the advantage of being easier to dry than non removable liners, and the disadvantage of usually being a little larger than a non removable linered boot of the same size.

Backstay: The back of this boot is reinforced for strength and stiffness. It gives you the support you need for any ability level.

Liner Lace Lock: This liner features a lace lock to speed up the process of putting boots on. Just pull the lace tab upward until snug, then slide the lace lock down into place. It will ensure the boots stay snug throughout the day. When the day is over, just pull up on the lock knob and slide the foot out. Piece of cake!

High-Density Rubber Outsole: rubber liner of this boot is extremely durable and dense for digging into the snow without slipping.

PL Liner: The entry level liner, best suited for beginner to intermediate levels. The locking lace up system ensures a good fit with adequate support for riding at slow to average speeds.

PVC/EVA shell/tongue materials: Scientific blend (PVC and EVA are both abbreviations of longer chemical names) offers more durability and comfort than other, uh, less scientific materials.

PVC Upper: The upper of this boot is a flexible PVC plastic, that feels about like a stiff leather. This material is highly waterproof and resists abuse well.
