Salomon H X-Wing 8 Skis w/L10 Bindings

For a quick carving, strong but not punishing all-mountain ski, look no further than Salomon's X-Wing 8. These skis have a layer of titanium which stiffens them up, making them strong enough to power through hard ice or chopped up crud. Titanium has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, so while the layer of titanium stiffens up the ski, it doesn't add an incredible amount of weight to the package. Throw in a fully adjustable Salomon binding and you have a great East Coast All-Mtn or Western Groomer Ski that is shareable between friends family members and has a high resale value since they don't need to be remounted (ever).

Features:
DIN: 3-10
Adjustment Range: 260-373mm
Adjustment Style: Fixed toe, moveable heel

Skier Ability: Upper Intermediate: This ski allows the higher intermediate skiers to feel comfortable at a wide range of speeds, and offer a good mix of stability for aggressive skiing without loosing the ability to turn easily at slower speeds, if that's your thing.

Intermediate Ski Comparisons: <--Click for help in deciding between this and some of our other intermediate skis.

Speed: Fast: At this speed, these skiers are passing most of the others on blue square runs, and keeping up with most skiers on black diamond runs.

Composite Core: This ski features a composite core, which has a softer flex and is lighter weight than wood cores. Junior, entry level, and sometimes even women's models have this type of core to make skiing more enjoyable, and less work.

Cap ConstructionCap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Titanium Layer: A thin, but strong layer of Titanium sits under the topsheet of this ski. Not only does it make the ski stronger, it keeps it lighter than other metals, and also creates a dampening effect for the ski. This means it rides smoother over bumpy terrain.

Integrated Binding System: Once mounted, the binding sits on rails or a plate that is affixed to the ski. The main difference, however, is that the binding can move slightly on the rail during the flexing motion of the ski underneath. This setup means the binding does not inhibit the flex of the ski as it is sort of floating on these rails. What this means for the skier: A more even flex and smoother turn, with less skidding or 'chatter' from the ski. This is most noticeable on groomed terrain.
