Sport Shoes

The Sport category encompasses all of the Helly Hansen walking, running, cross training, trail hiking and general all purpose athletic shoes that we carry.
Shoes in the Sport category are generally low-cut (ankle cut or mid ankle), but with rugged soles and features so you know they are meant to go off-road and up, over, around, under whatever obstacle may be in your way.
Go ahead and take a gander at our Helly Hansen Sport Shoes.
An example of a shoe in this category would be the Korktrekker. Now these series comes in a low, mid, and high cut style. The low is cut below the ankle; mid at the ankle, and the high cut goes well above the ankle for the maximum in warmth, support, and protection. The lower cut shoes are lighter weight and provide more flexibility and mobility.
This shoe is a good example of a sport shoe because it has some key features that you can expect in *most* sport shoes (of course there are exceptions to every rule). Key features of a sport shoe:
- Minimal insulation: Most athletic shoes are going to be very light on insulation, since they were made to keep you light on your toes. Also, during most activities, your feet will be kept warm from body heat and movement. Any additional insulation will cause your feet to sweat. In general, the hiking boots in the Sport category will have more insulation than the rest of the sport shoes.
- Not leather: A lot of shoes are made primarily of leather, but the sport shoes are usually going to be synthetic fabrics that are better at getting muddy and wet.
- High comfort and shock absorption: The sport shoes were made for running, jumping, climbing and falling.
