Head/Tyrolia Racing X: This binding features the Head/Tyrolia Heavy Spring, meaning some of the release settings are considerably above the international standard recommendations, and should only be used by skiers that understand the risks of using a high DIN binding like this. Any binding wearing the 'X' badge is for extremely high performance skiers only. However, Head/Tyrolia warns skiers that these bindings may cause serious injury to the skier, no matter their ability. In other words, don't set the DIN to 18 just to be cool, because your leg will break before the binding releases. Level Nine reiterates this warning by saying you need to sign a waiver when you purchase this binding, agreeing that you don't hold Level Nine liable when all of your tendons snap. FreeFlex Plus: A very versatile system to alter your bindings performance depending upon needs and taste. With a twist of a screw you can turn and activate the FreeFlex Plus system. Unactivated the toe and heels perform as traditional fixed position bindings which cause the ski to be stiffer underfoot. When activated the heel is allowed to 'float' backwards with pressure thus enabling the ski to flex and deflex naturally uninhibited by the restrictive nature of fixed position bindings. Though this is ideal for racers who may want to remain less flexible in GS type skiing and more flexible and responsive in Slalom type skiing, it is also great for recreational skiers to experiment effortlessly with different skiing characteristics without having to purchase extra gear. Full Diagonal Heel: The top of the line for performance and safety, the side to side swivel of the heel allows for better performance and truer release by letting the springs on the heel hold the boot in place under lateral force. The binding can give but not release when you are exerting force such as a high speed carve, this helps not only avoid prerelease but also ensures that the binding release when it needs to. Duracoating: A protective seal on the binding to help reduce wear for looks and performance. Race Diagonal toe: The toe of the binding is able to release the boot in a full 180 degree range for safety, but has a higher release force vertically to reduce pre-releasing in high energy skiing Wide Teflon AFD: A wider than average AFD transmits more force to the edge of the ski, and reduces or eliminates the rolling of the boot when engaged in the binding. LD Series Binding/Brake: We are designating these LD series bindings/brake arms. To help avoid the confusion about which brake arms work with which bindings. All LD series parts will have this description and be accessible from the link at the beginning of this paragraph. |
