Under Armour's Palma jacket is a lightweight but fully insulated girl's ski jacket (it has a unisex youth fit, and the colors aren't really girly, so boys can wear these too--but officially speaking this is a girl's jacket). This jacket gives plush 100g insulation on the chest and slightly lighter 80g insulation on the arms, which helps let your arms swing naturally. Through in some critically taped seams, zippered and fleeced lined pockets, and you've got yourself one tidy all-in one ski jacket. For most ski days all a child would need is a long-sleeve t-shirt (or Under Armour baselayer???) under this coat, and on really cold days if you layer this baby with a thermal baselayer and a warm sweater, your kid will never be cold. At least not physically, and in the jacket region.

UnderArmour ColdGear: Recommended for use when temperatures dip below 55 degrees (F), ColdGear features a double-sided fabric that wicks moisture from the skin and circulates body heat. Stay warm and stay dry, and stay out there!

Elastic Storm Hood: Storm hood with back adjustment and elastic front.

5000mm Waterproof rating: This rating means this fabric is waterproof for pretty much any ski day that you'd be on the mountain. The only time the fabric might let a little water in is during the really wet snow storms. But generally, this is the level that gets you into good quality outerwear.

5000g Breathability: Its tough to get a fabric that is both waterproof and breathable, but this is getting it done. 5000g of water is sufficient for pretty much any rider. For those that sweat a lot, maybe search for a higher rated fabric, but most people are happy with this level.
