A ski specially designed for use in ungroomed conditions. Show everyone who the boss on the slopes is! Like its predecessor, the i.M 85, this ski will soon become a living legend on the freeride scene. With Twintip Technology, the i.M 88 is now cutting an even more impressive figure in the backcountry. Despite its extremely wide footprint, the Monster i.M 88 also performs impressively on hard pack thanks to Intelligence Technology and Liquidmetal.
Oh my. What can I say. The Monster 88 is truly a beefcake. Ok its obvious that its big size makes it dynamite for powder or any variable snow conditions, what may not be so obvious is that this ski can still cut up the rug with a reasonable turn radius. What may be hidden if you do not read between the lines is the Sandwich construction, this is a serious ski desigend to handle serious force, if you don't put force on your ski, and I mean serious force (via speed, steeps, big air, whatever) you will not be able to flex this ski. Head says your variable snow skiing percentage here should be about 80%, if you spend a bit more time on trail head over to our equally beefy Monster 82's. If you spend all of your time off trail out here in the west you may want to consider our Mojo 103's and 105's. If you want an equally awesome all conditions ski that you don't have to be a He-Man to control check out our Mojo 90's.
This ski does not like to slalom (turn radius too big) and does not like to get airborne (too heavy). But it is insane at everything else. I got hooked when I forgot to bring my Scott Light Amp goggles and couldn't see the edge of the run. No matter, top speed transition from groomed to crud that would have killed me on any other skis was a non event with this ski. It doesn't really matter what's underneath. If you purchase this ski and choose a ski binding below, we will mount the bindings at no charge (including fat brake arms if necessary). If you also buy a boot from us on the same order, we will test and adjust the bindings to the boot so you are ready to hit the slopes out of the box!
