Description
The Shaman is one of the most unique skis on the planet, with a huge shovel, and a fatter than modest 110mm waist, this ski is one of the best powder skis ever made. The target skiier here is an advanced to expert skiier who skis powder all the time. The Shaman is surprisingly good all around (just like the Nomad, its highly versatile), but the bread and butter for this ski is in the deep snow.
Features:
Handmade in Colorado
Poplar wood core
Durasurf 4001 Sintered base (very fast and more difficult to scratch)
Thick steel edges
Reinforced at binding mount area
Original artwork graphics by Travis Parr
This year's Shaman has a picture of, well a Peruvian
Shaman. This one will draw a crowd in the lift line.
The Shaman becons you to ski powder. Its original shape keeps you floating in the soft stuff better than oil on water. It features a pin-tail design and huge shovel to keep your tips up and to give a 'surfy' ride. The Shaman's design allows you to ski at a more aggressive, forward stance and reduces the thigh burn from skiing backseat in the powder. That means you can ski longer and enjoy more powder while you friends go crying to the lodge by 11am (why are you skiing with your friends on a powder day anyway?). Between storms, you will find that the Shaman charges through the crud with ease and is a decent carver ski on the hardpack, as long as it isn't solid ice. For everyone that hates skiing the slush at springtime, use the Shaman to discover that spring snow really is the next best thing to powder. Because of the huge surface area, you can stay on top of the snow instead of being pushed around by the spring slop.
Additional Info
A ski of this length would typically used by a skier about 71 inches tall. Aggressive skiers or those looking for good off trail performance may go longer, beginners may go shorter.
