Icelantic SkisThe Level Nine Sports owner says these are the greatest skis ever made. Is it so or is he nuts?I don't really know what to say about Icelantic skis, so I'll tell you a story. When the Icelantic rep Ashley showed up at the shop and said we should try out his skis on a company ski weekend, we all laughed at him.. well laughed at his skis anyway. Dude 160cm and shorter? And are they waterskis? Anyway, that weekend at Powder Mountain is now legendary. We all chose even the 143cm Scout over the big fat burly skis we had brought. And after the lifts closed we took car laps in the out of bounds backcountry, 3 of us taking turns on the Nomad, Scout, and Shaman while the "real skis" sat in the condo. So go ahead laugh and tell me why you can't ski on a 156cm ski. I've said it before and I'll say it again. "These are the best skis in existence... and it's not even close." Jon opines that because they are the first truly unique skis (except for that reverse sidecut crap... which again all sat in the condo), they make skiing fun again for those skiers who have gotten a little bored and considered the evil act of snowboarding. While that's true I guess, I don't fully buy it as an explanation. I maintain that with all the surface area they provide, with a sidecut, and the shorter length, they provide more versatility than any other ski period. So if your manhood rests on the size of your ski, we got the big sticks too, but short skis don't necessarily equate to short poles.
