Guide to Level9 Product Icons (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Waterbomb)

Interested in seeing a full list of our icons and a brief summary of what they mean? If you answered yes, then you have come to the correct place. For starters, products can have three different icons. Each icon is a designation given to the product, usually having to do with some technical or style aspect or what type of activities or users for which this product excels.

The three icons will always be the three separate opinions, one each from:

Rich@Levelninesports.com

Jon@Levelninesports.com

info@Levelninesports.com

Sometimes Jon, Rich, and the Team will all agree on a certain aspect, and other times we will all find a different WOW! factor. Maybe Jon loves the jacket because of how waterproof it is, but Rich is more impressed by the value and quality for the price. And the Team will be the consensus on what the rest of us Level9ers think.

So without further adieu let's get into some icons:

Arctic indicates that the product is very warm and will be your ally on frigid winter days.

Best Value is given to products that offer excellent bang for the buck.

Sporty indicates that this item allows a large range of movement, is good at wicking sweat from your body, and will be comfortable to wear while running, jumping, working out, and other things of a sporty nature.

BBQ Ready: Fire up the meat (or veggie shish-kabobs?) and crack open a beer, items with this designation are made for casual summertime hanging out.

Cozy items are soft and snuggly and warm and just all around cozy. Cozy items can often work awesome as baselayers in a ski-outfit and can be everyday garb in the colder months.

Employee Owned is pretty straightforward, someone here decided that they absolutely needed this item, and bought it. We have our pick of the litter, and we chose this. If you care about our recommendations, then this icon holds a lot of weight.

Everyday Wear are items that will become part of your regular clothes rotation.

GOLD STAR MEANS ITS AWESOME. Bold and caps-lock added for emphasis. Gold Starred items generally got the star for blowing us away on a number of fronts.

Certified Granola is gear for the hikers, climbers, campers and other granola munchers amongst us.

Bomb Proof AKA "The Bomb" is the icon given to extremely durable and rugged products. This gear is built to last and built to take a beating.

Lightness is the icon given to products that are not bulky and heavy. For backpacking or camping, when minimalism is the word of the day, go with the feather.

Sexy items are generally more revealing, or cut/tapered in a way as to accentuate your form.

Staff Pick is the icon for items that the some us probably will own in the future, but we all have a closet full of Level9 goods (why would we shop anywhere else?), so for now we will simply peg these as Staff Pick quality selections.

Stylish items are those with a design or pattern or overall look that takes center stage. Some items eschew fashion for function, these items will embrace fashion while continuing to function.

Super Cute is reserved for pieces that are soft, feminine, and cute, without being too revealing. Think of this as a G rated version of the Sexy icon.

Techie gear is the gear that is innovating design and function of outdoor apparel. Techie gear usually has unique or proprietary fabrics that are scientifically engineered to perform.

Timeless AKA Classic is just that, classic apparel. If you bought a polo shirt in 1984, you could probably find the same shirt in 2010, which is an example of a classic design.

Waterbomb is the unholy combination of waterproof and bombproof. This gear is waterproof, period, and it is made to get wet. For some items, like waders, not only are they made to get wet, but they are made to be fully submerged standing in your local creek all day.

Windproof is designated to products that are built to stand up to the toughest winds. A lot of items are good in windy situations, but these items will be really good in really windy situations.

And that is all for now! Stay tuned as we like icons and we think they make browsing the website more fun, we will be adding more icons as we get more products that we need to classify. Now lets go shopping, eh?
