If you like to do things the hard way, or if you just want to know more, read on.
Ski boots are sized according to a universal system, called Mondo Point. It is not a european size, nor a US size. See the Conversion Chart below for sizing correlations. Now that the length sizing has been touched on, its time to explain the width element. Ski boots come in various widths, to fit a wider range of feet and performance levels. Generally wider ski boots are more comfortable and better suited for beginner to intermediate levels. Narrow boots are geared to skiers that need a tight fit for high performance skiing. Wide boots are usually 103-108mm in the forefoot area and narrow boots are 95-100mm. There is a delicate balance that you need to figure out between comfort and performance. The comfort side of the scale will give you a nice soft and wide boot but will feel loose and dangerous if skiing at high speed. The Performance boots will give you excellent control at higher speed, but your feet might hate you for a couple days afterward. Whatever you do, get the correct size by using a sizing chart, our Ski Boot Selector, or a local shop. Do not get a boot that is too big for you and stuff them with paper or wear an extra pair of socks to take up volume. Also, be careful in getting a boot that is too small, because you will never want to go skiing. Most of the boots we carry are Head, because we feel they have a great mix of performance and comfort. The Lange boots we carry also do the same, with a slightly narrower fit. Related Links: Check out these subcategories: |
