Amplid Hill Bill Skis 2015

SKU: AHBS15
The Amplid Hill Bill was built for those skiers looking to choose creative lines and slash the powder to their hearts content. The HB has a 120mm waist, Amplid's generous camrock rocker and specially tapered "floatation" tips which all make this stick a powder skiers dream as they will float through soft snow with a nimble, surfy feel. If you've ever skied early season powder days, you know what "low tide" is, this ski has Amplid's Stomp Guard which is a thin strip of Titanium between the edge and the sidewall which will prevent you from blowing an edge "215%" they say. All in all, the Amplid Hill Bill has a surfy shape and a floatacious feel that's perfect for aggressive skiing on powder days at the resort or jump sessions in the backcountry.

Description

Details

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Jekyll and Hyde Geometry: Max effective edge and square centimeters for flotation in the minimum board or ski length. Unsinkable, but nimble pow shreds, sawn-off jib decks with huge pop and insane edge-hold or the ultimate all-mountain ski shape recipe.

Amplid Floatation Tips: Ultra wide, low rising tips that exist purely to create lift in powder without sucking-up speed. They add a surfy feel to skis and snowboards.

Amplid Stomp Guard: A thin strip of lightweight Titanium-Aluminium allow sandwiched between the edge and sidewall increases the impact force needed to blow-out an edge by 215%.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Speed: Very Fast: Skiing at this speed means keeping up with the best skiers on the mountain, while still maintaining control.

Camrock: High Rise Rocker: These skis have significant rocker in the tip and tail allowing them to float effortlessly in powder. They have a bit of camber under foot and are exceptionally stable on hard-pack conditions.

We Have Recommended Some Bindings For You: You will notice there is a dropdown menu that says "Ski Bindings" above. These are simply a list of curated bindings we recommend will work best for this particular ski but other bindings will work as well. There are a few factors i.e. brake width, DIN range, ability level that determine an appropriate binding choice, so let us know if you need assistance.

Sintered Base: The material used for the base is harder, and therefore more durable than other options (Extruded). This material should be waxed regularly for best performance.

Tail Rocker: Just like Tip rocker, but in the tail, this feature allows the tails of the skis to release easier from the turn to give the skier the ability to turn the skis quicker in tight spots. It also allows skiers to dump speed by forcing the tails out and sliding sideways. The effective edge is reduced because of the tail rocker, so the skis will also be easier to control when forced to ski on the groomed slopes.

Ideal Target Skier: Big Mountain Charger: Top speed, all the time, regardless of terrain, obstacles or children in the way, these skiers need stability on par with professional downhill racers. They are usually looking for long skis that are wide and heavy.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Basalt Layers: This stick sandwiches basalt around the wood core, which is lighter than metals like aluminum or titanium, but still offers extra stability and dampness.
