We are proud to carry Bern's first helmet with adjustable vents! The G2 Zipmold looks similar to a Brentwood but has bigger vents (10 total) that can be opened or closed depending on the temperature. Available in Matte Black or Matte Grey, we recommend this helmet to folks who are used to more traditional style helmets from Giro or Smith but want to try Bern's low profile style of helmet. The G2 is fully equipped with a cozy interior liner (that you can remove and wash), a goggle clip and more.

Details

Zip Mold Foam: Zip Mold is a Bern exclusive liquid foam injection process that results in a high strength to weight ratio. In layman's terms, that means this helmet is has very hard foam, but is very lightweight. Zip Mold is the highest performance helmet style that Bern produces.

Bern Zip Mold Compatibility: Whether you have the Berkeley, Brentwood or G2 model, as long as it is the Zip Mold style (as opposed to Hard Hat or EPS), this audio knit will fit.

Bern Sizing Runs Small: When browsing helmets keep in mind that Bern helmet sizes run on the smaller side. This is due to the more rounded shape of Bern's Design. Please think about sizing up if you are in the middle to end of the size range. If you have any questions contact CS to explain or help further.

Safety Standards: CE EN 1077-96: This is a European standard that has performed testing on these helmets to ensure they function as designed, and that they exceed the minimum standards for snow sports. In other words, they dropped heavy objects on the helmets, and they didn't break.
ASTM 2040-02: The US equivalent of the European testing standard, so you know it has solid backing.

CPSC Safety Standard: CPSC is the newest American safety standard for bicycling and skating, this helmet meets this new standard.

Adjustable vent: Small movable clips slide forward or back to open and close the vents of this helmet. As you start moving, air flows through the helmet to cool the rider down and lets more moisture escape.

Goggle clip: Two lateral guides that keep the goggles in place, and doesn't interfere with the goggle adjustment clips.

Included Knit Liner: This model of Bern Helmet comes standard with a warm knit liner.

Removable Visor: Mostly for style points, but when its overplayed in a couple more years, you can decide to take off the visor.

Great helmet/smaller fitReview by Nate

Great helmet but if you read the reviews regarding size you should be fine. I got the G2 on end of year deal so can't review performance yet. The helmet seems well made, light, air holes function great, and it is super comfortable. As others have mentioned the sizing is a little small but not way off. My head measures 55cm and the M-L fits nice and snug, I doubt 57cm would fit the M-L. (Posted on 6/14/2017)

Nice helmet. Love the visor and the liner is comfy over your ears. I'm glad I read the reviews and bought a size up. My head measures 55cm and the M/L is a snug fit. (Posted on 8/23/2016)
sizing - might be best to call firstReview by andersonkenneth

I was excited to receive this helmet but quite disappointed when I found it way too small. It appears to be a nice design and I really do wish it fit me but it was way off. I was aware that they (Bern) run small and measured my head more than once (ok, like 5 times) and thought I was WELL within sizing range. I understand that there are different head shapes and perhaps this played a part but I've owned many helmets and never once had a problem.
I would have gladly tried a larger size if it was in stock.
- My advice is to either try one on in person or size up at least 2, if not 3 cm. (Posted on 8/11/2016)

Definitely wear a helmet! This one is comfy and warm and the adjustable vents actually make a HUGE difference depending on the temperature/snowmaking that is happening during your time on the slopes. Fell a few times this past season and the helmet definitely did its job keeping my noggin safe and sound. When ordering, definitely measure your head several times to make sure that you get the right size. At first, you might think it's too tight, but as you wear it and it breaks in, you'll be glad that you measured twice and bought once. (Posted on 6/20/2016)

Brought two of these, one for me and one for my 11 year old son and these are the first helmets we've every bought, so I did a lot of research first. The features that caught my eye, were the safety standard, weight to size ratio, removable winter lining/visor, opening vents and the style.
Although we haven't used them yet (as our season doesn't start for a couple of months) they fit us both really well, straight out of the box, however I can see why the description says 'Bern helmets size small'. My heads 54cm and I got the M/L and the helmet fits absolutely perfectly. I get hot on the mountain so won't be wearing a beanie with this helmet, but if I did, the M/L would be to small. I think the visor will be handy on those sunny days plus will help a little in keeping that extra tiny bit of weather out when it's not so great.
Because I get hot, I'm sure the opening vents will get a good workout! Also a nice surprise are the vents that are permanently open on the back, I think they'll be perfect to help keep my noggin cool! The only maybe I have is, because the vents on the top are 'sunken' whether they're open or closed, I wonder how much they'll fill with snow, either from wipeouts or on those days days when it's snowing?....time will tell, but all in all very happy at this stage. Have about 6 days on this now - Great Helmet! Sizes small though... I have a 6 3/4 head and this S/M just barely fit me when new, now just a wee bit looser - can;t imagine anyone 7+ size who could fit. Otherwise, design is great - variable venting is great! Most helmet shapes hurt my head badly, this one is great, right out of the box. Good Stuff! (Posted on 3/18/2016)

My kid's head fit into the adult L/XL with a ski mask on perfectly. He wears an adult L snowmobile helmet so matched the size based on that. He loves the venting on the helmet! (Posted on 1/25/2016)

Perfect replacement helmet for a growing teen. Lightweight, cool looking, and a good hard shell. I'll get another in a heartbeat when his skiing improves and his head gets bigger! (Posted on 12/28/2015)

I've had trouble finding a partial-shell helmet for skiing to replace my aging full-shell Leedom Scream. Got an email From L9 about some crazy sale which pictured the Bern G2 helmet, so I figured I'd check it out. I was attracted to the general features of the G2 Zip Mold helmet, but the 'all-season' tag is what sold me. OK, the price seemed pretty spectacular, too. I measured my head circumference to be about 56.5 cm, and ordered a size M/L. Upon arrival, the helmet provides a near-perfect fit for my noggin, needing only to have the chinstrap tightened a bit. Wow! I found a helmet that fits me without having to mess around with sizing pads and tedious strap adjustments? And I can get a summer liner and wear it on the bike, too! Inconceivable!
The helmet construction appears and feels very solid. Fit and finish is also good. Thanks, L9, for offering awesome products at awesome prices, with awesome-fast shipping! Awesome! (Posted on 11/6/2015)

This is a really nice helmet with good feel and the vents are kind of cool. The helmet does run small however so be careful when ordering. I am a standard m-l or 56cm and this one is firm. I am hoping it loosens up just a bit or this could be an issue. (Posted on 9/6/2015)

Great helmet with a good look. But the sizing for my Kids was a liitle smaller than advised which caused some trouble with shipping and selling on and overall cost. My suggestion would be to try before you buy with this one (Posted on 9/3/2015)

Decent helmet for the $. I bought one for my son and one for me. They seem to run a little small and our goggle straps fall off often. Probably a better park helmet than mountain headgear. I'm concerned that mine won't be warm enough for my bald head but when you have to buy helmets for the whole family at once these are better than most and Level 9 came through with the usual great price and service. Buy a size up. (Posted on 4/14/2015)
