Lightweight sidecountry boots have taken the industry by storm, and the Lupo Carbon Ti is leading the pack. Essentially just a lighter weight version of last years Lupo Ti, the shell on the carbon model incorporates, yep you guessed it, uber lightweight and durable carbon fiber material. This boot has a 130 flex rating for aggressive skiing both in and out of bounds and a 98mm last to keep your feet locked in place. Weighing in at 1700g, this boot is best suited for skiers looking to do some serious touring but don't want to change out their boots when bombing chutes inside the resort boundary.

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Details

98mm last: Forefoot width of 98mm for racing performance, not as concerned about comfort, although modern boots do a great job of keeping their performance boots quite comfortable.

Cabrio Design: Dalbello's critically acclaimed 3-piece design is the cornerstone to their freestyle performance lineup. Cabrio boots secure the foot and lower leg in a comfortable way, with a smooth and progressive forward flex. Cabrio boots are great for helping fight against shin bang, and are easier to put on and take off than comparable (high performance, non-cabrio) boots.

130 Flex Rating: Higher than average stiffness means you should be skiing pretty fast to warrant a boot of this flex.

Flip Ski Walk: A flip lever at the back spine of the boot has a toggle to switch from Ski or Walk mode. Try to keep it in ski mode while skiing, or it might feel a little funny skiing in the back-seat like its nobody's business! This does make walking around the resort looking for the bar or the kids a little more comfortable.

Cuff Range Movement: Thanks to its construction, the Lupo Carbon T.I. cuff offers one of the highest range of motions available in the market : 67° (40° Forward Lean, 27° Backward Lean) LUPO PLUS T.I.: 48° (35° Forward Lean, 13° Backward Lean).

These soles have Tech Toe Inserts that will work with Dynafit style touring bindings.

ID Max Hike Light Liner: • My Fit, With Tongue Overlapping Design, Factory Pre-Formed for step in, 100% Custom Heat Moldable Ultralon® EVA Foam, HD/MD Laminate, Lace up closure, Easy Flex Walking Functionality

40mm strap: Super wide strap found on high performance boots. The extra width spreads out the force while skiing and reduces the pressure point on the upper shin.

Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles: These aluminum buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

2 Interchangeable Tongues Included: These boots come with 2 tongues that can be swapped out to make the boot stiff (130 flex) or medium flex (110ish). Just another feature that allows for maximum custom fit and performance.

Double Canting: Two adjustment bolts, one each side of the ankle, allow for maximum adjustment for leg/knee alignment problems. The canting helps the skis stay flat on the ground while you are still bow-legged or knock-kneed.

Contour 4 Fit Technology: The shell of the boot is designed to be more anatomically correct than any other. Four parts of the foot are crucial in ensuring a close fitting but comfortable boot. The toes, ankles, heel and width of the boot are shaped in a more natural, ergonomic way.

Dynalink by Dalbello: The middle buckle Dynalink boots is an extra big instep closure band that pulls the heel back into the heel pocket. Where some buckles pull your foot towards the footboard of the boot, boots with Dynalink pull your foot towards the heel of the boot. This is nice because it often means you can get an tight fit without constantly banging your toes against the end of the shell.

Worth the PriceReview by It's Me

The Dalbello Lupo Carbon T.I. boots are extremely stiff, and astonishingly light in weight. Their low volume and rigidity create a feel closer to wearing a cast than a normal ski boot. Importantly, the middle strap ensures that one's heel stays securely positioned in the heel cup and allows for complete confidence in turn initiation with the forward tips of skis. The light weight and climbing mode make uphill skin tracks a pleasure. Note: to put them on, you must engage climb/walk mode because of the form fitting nature of the low-volume shell. I would not recommend these for the utterly ridiculous MSRP, but for anything under $1,000, they are worth every penny. (Posted on 3/14/2017)
