Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.
Defiance Lifetime Warranty: Rest easy, this product is covered by Defiance's Lifetime Warranty. We stand by our product and will happily warranty any manufacturer's defects for the life of your sweet Defiance gear. I know you don't have to thank us, we are here to help!
Camber/Rocker: Defiance's Camber/Rocker profile is 80% traditional camber, and 20% early rise, which means that these skis are going to hold an edge, and should be skied mostly on hardpack--but with the raised tips, plowing through crud and powder is definitely do-able.
Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first-timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.
Composite Core: This ski features a composite core, which has a softer flex and is lighter weight than wood cores. Junior, entry-level, and sometimes even women's models have this type of core to make skiing more enjoyable, and less work.
Sandwich Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.
Fiber Tech Wrap: A fiberglass network that surrounds the core of the ski. This technology helps the ski flex evenly, creating a smooth, effortless turn.
Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.
SX Junior Toe: It looks slick, but more importantly, allows up to 30% greater retention force without compromising safety. There are 4 rollers at the toe that remain flexible (spring loaded) at all times to keep the boot centered and to absorb sharp impacts.
AFS - Anti Friction System: A rollable toe pad enabling no friction release for perfect release regardless of boot wear, icing up or dirt.
The package is slightly different than what we have, but ours came with the junior Defiance Blue skis, bindings and Roces Idea adjustable boots. The package took just a week to arrive and was packaged well. The bindings came mounted and appear to be to spec for what we requested. The skis and boots were very nice and we took them out one time so far. The skis handled well and the ski boots were easy to attach to the skis and easy to release manually. All in all very happy and will be purchasing an adult ski package for myself from Level Nine.
