Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. It's 2016! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty so not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Fiber Tech Wrap: A fiberglass network that surrounds the core of the ski. This technology helps the ski flex evenly, creating a smooth, effortless turn.

Active Camber: In a world of early rise, rocker, and reverse camber, there still is a need for traditional full camber skis. The edge grip and stability is unmatched on groomed snow. This ski gets maximum edge to the snow, so it helps skiers skiing the firm stuff, or just prefer the 'feel' of traditional camber skis.

Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.

We Have Recommended Some Bindings For You: You will notice there is a dropdown menu that says "Ski Bindings" above. These are simply a list of curated bindings we recommend will work best for this particular ski but other bindings will work as well. There are a few factors i.e. brake width, DIN range, ability level that determine an appropriate binding choice, so let us know if you need assistance.

Our friend Rich has made an informative video series on teaching young children to ski. Labelled coincidentally enough teachchildrenskiing.com it's useful to those of you with skiers you would like to introduce to the sport.

Product Questions

Once you chose your bindings do they get fitted before being delivered on the kids skis?

I notice the turn radius increases from 9m in a 110cm to 15m in a 120cm. That's a huge increase - is this correct? I have 170cm skis with a tighter radius...

My daughter is 9 years old and likes to ski the whole mountain. Will these ski suit all mountain, as she is just starting in the park with small jumps ?

Do the skis come pre drilled for bindings. I already have bindings from a smaller ski and would like to re use the binding.

sorry for the crazy question, but are the pink ones the 3rd image (appear red/yellow/blue) or is there a version not pictured that is similar to the purple? Thanks in advance.

We are thinking of buying these skis for our son with bindings then hiring boots. Do we need to have boots for you to be able to fit the bindings? (PS, I couldn't read the Terms ' Conditions associated with asking this question on the web site - my computer kept telling me there was a problem loading the page)

Great skis but top scratches easilyReview by Jess

The skis are really great, no issue at all, they're nice and light and ski nicely. My only hesitation is that the top of the skis are a very highly polished surface so they show every single little scratch and bump. Our other skis have a more pearl finish on top which beautifully hides all sins. (Posted on 9/9/2015)

Great value skis. Perfect for young skiers. Bought 130's for pre-teens. Only thing I could say they would be perfect if they had a textured top. They are getting pretty beat up on the tops. Not sure if that would effect the cost though. Great service form levelnine as always! (Posted on 3/1/2015)

These were an excellent purchase and our six year old daughter is now skiing in her own after one lesson with these (she did have two lessons kast winter in Queenstown, NZ). We gritted all the family out this year with boots, poles and skis plus gear bags and couldn't be happier with Level Nine. The guys are awesome in communication and reply super-quick. Very impressedReview by Ben

Really impressed with these skis. Just back from a couple of weeks skiing in Japan where my 6 year old skied on the Defiance Puzzle's. He had no trouble skiing knee-deep powder in the trees and was really getting on his edges with ease on piste. This was probably a lot down to natural progression but also, I think, the ski's played their part ... they certainly didn't hinder his confidence, but grew it. He loved them because they look great and I was very, very happy with the quality (was a little nervous because I didn't know the brand). (Posted on 2/3/2015)
