The Defiance Puzzle Package is brand new for this season and features the Defiance (our house brand) Puzzle Ski, SX 4.5 Bindings and Adjustable Roces Ski Boots. There are a variety of different color options for both boys and girls and each ski sports a simple 3D style pattern in the middle of the ski which (not to toot our own horn), looks awesome. This is a full woodcore ski, that's lightweight and great for pretty much all levels of mini-skier sticking mostly to groomed trails (and is also covered under a Lifetime Warranty). Included in this low price are Defiance 4.5 bindings (made by Head) that will compliment this ski very well and the always amazing and adjustable Roces IDEA boot. This is a lightweight, durable (fantastic looking) package with an insane value that we know the little ones in the family will love!

Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Package Information: We provide complete binding adjustment to all packages purchased at no extra cost to you. If you don't know all the information required, Please fill out the form to the best of your ability.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. It's 2016! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty so not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.

Should I Choose 4.5 or 7.5 Din Bindings?: There are two types of binding options: 4.5 DIN and 7.5 DIN.The 4.5 DIN is best for any junior skier under 80 lbs and the 7.5 DIN is best for junior skiers who weigh over 80 lbs. The numbers indicate the maximum DIN values for each of the bindings, the 7.5 is higher so its generally for older junior skiers and the 4.5 is perfect for the younger, shorter skiers. If you are still confused, it's okay we are always here to help you out!

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Fiber Tech Wrap: A fiberglass network that surrounds the core of the ski. This technology helps the ski flex evenly, creating a smooth, effortless turn.

Active Camber: In a world of early rise, rocker, and reverse camber, there still is a need for traditional full camber skis. The edge grip and stability is unmatched on groomed snow. This ski gets maximum edge to the snow, so it helps skiers skiing the firm stuff, or just prefer the 'feel' of traditional camber skis.

Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.

Our friend Rich has made an informative video series on teaching young children to ski. Labelled coincidentally enough it's useful to those of you with skiers you would like to introduce to the sport.

The Getting Started Guide: We have curated a list of everything you will need to get into skiing. Making it easy for those who are not yet confident in their purchase!

For The Kids: A select list of our favorite junior gear. Hand picked by our very own ski gurus. This product made the cut.

My daughter is 13 and her feet fit to the upper part of 19-22. She may need 22.5 - 25.5 in about a year. Which binding shall I select to fit both boot sizes?
My son is 3 and I am looking at purchasing the Defiance ski package for him for Christmas. I know the boots are adjustable but what length of ski to you recommend of a 3 year old just starting out?
Hello, one beginner question: these bindings come mounted on the skis, right? (I want to make sure I would not have to go to a ski shop to have them mounted.) Thanks!
My son is 12 and is just beginning to ski (has skied a couple of times in the past few years but is a beginner). He would take a size 5 shoe and weighs about 80 pounds maybe. I'm wondering if you could recommend a ski length for him? Thanks
My son is 4 1/2 and wears an 11 size shoe. Will the defiance package boots work for him, If not what recommendations would you have.
Is this ski stiff enough for my 10 year-old daughter who skis blacks and double-blacks?
I would like to purchaser this package. Looking to purchase: 120/130cm skis + ski boots 22.5-25-5 (size 4 shoe) I am not sure about the bindings, what is the difference between 4.5 and 7.5? What should is recommended for the above?
Are the tyrolia SX 4.5 bindings adjustable for different boot sizes?
my 8 1/2 year old is an advanced beginner and is 54 in tall. what length ski should we select?
My 12yr old son has 71/2 shoe size, will the 22.5-25.5 be large enough to fit him?

Hi, our daughter is 135cm tall and has size US3 shoes, she skis black runs. What ski package would you recommend? Thanks
I am a petite lady 4 11" and I have a very small foot for my size 3 or 21.5 mondo. Is there an option for a 110 or 120mm ski? The only option available is a 100mm.
Thank you
Hi,my daughter is 6 years old,she is 123cm and her running shoes are size 1 (Nike) what package she can use?and we want to use for more than one season.
Just to be clear... The bindings will adjust to fit the Roces as they expand to the larger sizes of the adjustable boot? My son will just fit into the 19-22, and if the bindings adjust we could get maybe 3 years out of them, which would be awesome.
My daughter is 12 1/2 years old and wears a 8 in shoe size. I am interested in the kids ski package (boots, ski, poles, etc) what is her size in skis, boots and poles for the package deal.
Hi Looking for a ski package for my son. He is 146 tall and weighs 76.5 lbs. He is a confident intermediate skier can ski all terrains and has used your Head package for past two seasons. I was wondering about twin tips skis (are there any packages with those) or is this package the more suitable? He is currently on 115 skis and was going to get him 130cm
If we buy the package, do you mount the bindings and set the DIN?
Regarding the boot sizes for Roces, am I correct in that the sizes are simply the length of a child's foot in centimeter's?

Great kids ski package! Sizing was perfect and shipping was fast!Review by LemonHart
Very happy with our recent purchase of this kids ski package for our son. L9 did an outstanding job with the directions for sizing and online ordering and shipping to Canada was easy and fast. We compared against local shops here in Calgary and even with the exchange rate against us right now, it was still cheaper to buy from L9 and ship to Calgary. Can't emphasize again how fast and reasonably priced the shipping was. Great value! Will recommend to our friends. (Posted on 5/6/2017)

Great Product; Superb Customer Service!Review by akgupta
We ordred this set for our novice skier son, who was beyond delighted and claimed they were far superior to the rentals he was used to. More importantly, the set was to be his birthday present and I discovered when I checked the shipment tracking that they wouldn't be arriving in time for the date- I was horrified. But Customer Service made arrangements to ensure that we would have the set in time for the birthday at minimal cost & inconvenience to us, and followed through; they were wonderful I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the product or the company to anyone. Great set for beginnersReview by cc
My son just started skiing this season so we I ordered him this set. The process was so painless and the boots and skis came mounted so he could hit the slopes right away. Love the design and the adjustable boots are genius. SO easy to adjust. My son has used these twice and although the skis scratched a bit we are still happy with the product and fast service of level nine. I was so impressed that I ordered a set for myself. No rental lines finally!! (Posted on 1/22/2016)
Kids love them Review by Chuckie
Love the bright colours and kids were so excited to ski in their new gear. They do scratch easily but it's not a concern with kids really (Posted on 1/18/2016)
Beyond Pleased!Review by The Whitakers
We ordered this package on a Tuesday and got them on Thursday morning. They were ready to go out of the box! I didn't have to take them anywhere to get the bindings adjusted. That was wonderful. I really appreciate all the charts and helpful tips when I was ordering these. I was really stressed about getting the right sizes, because I haven't bought my kids skis before. Everything fits perfectly!

The Boots: Fantastic! I love that we can adjust up to six sizes. They are so easy to adjust, I didn't even break a nail. They are very comfortable. The thing I think I like most of all, is the fact that you don't have to readjust the bindings every time you change sizes.

The Skis: Well made! These skis are lightweight sturdy construction, and beautiful. Can't wait to try them out on the hill.

Overall I am pleased with this package. I would definitely recommend them! (Posted on 12/10/2015)

Good package - weak skisReview by Salty
I purchased this package for my son recently and was impressed with the price and quick delivery to New Zwaland. My nearly 8 year old son loves the gear and it worked well during our first ski trip of the season . The boots were good but unfortunately the ski's s proved to be quite fragile - the top layer which seems to be a weak clear plastic molded material has been badly cut in several places and the foam core exposed in a couple of places. I skied with him and only noticed one slow speed tangle with another kid - I would expect ski's t be more durable than this. (Posted on 7/16/2015)
Children's Ski PackageReview by Martin
Great service, nothing short of perfect actually. Bought the skis, poles, boots and other goodies, easily confirmed the mounting details and three (!) business days later the package arrived in Melbourne. Thanks so much! (Posted on 6/3/2015)
A+ ServiceReview by Brown Baby
My 10 year old son hasn't used the skis or boots yet, however the service, advice, help & delivery are nothing short of first class. Gear arrived in perfect condition, exactly as described and within 4 days in NZ, so am blown away by the entire experience as a first time buyer of online ski gear. To top it off, after placing my initial order, I found a pair of snowboard boots which I thought would be great for my eldest son and wanted to add them to the order. Went to the chat room & not only had it sorted within 20 minutes, but Level9 offered them to me at no extra cost so long as I told everyone how awesome they are! :-) which I have no problem with. Thanks Level9 for helping out and want you to know there's 2 very happy young boys in NZ looking forward to the coming season with their new gear and a grateful father who will be buying again and will be happy to spread the word around the ski club :-) (Posted on 6/2/2015)

This is the 4rth time ordering from here, and it is always great service and hassle free, never an issue receiving in Canada. Fast delivery! This set is a great set for our daughter, she needed a set of. Skis to do for just a few seasons until she hits her height, she loves the pattern, they handle well and a Great Deal!! The boots fit well and as they adjust size, they will be usable for seasons to come rather than a new pair each year! Thanks again. - I will be back again for her next set of. Skis! Great package, but size issuesReview by Penfold
Like most people I was a little sceptical on the quality, given the price. The boots are a little more plasticy than I was expecting, but they fit great, are adjustable and my daughter loves them. My word of warning is on using the website's sizing guide for the skis. Based on this guide I ordered 100cm skis for my 6 year old complete beginning daughter, which was actually slightly shorter than the website suggested. The skis are great, and will be perfect for NEXT winter, when she's not a complete beginner (and will be a little taller). But for this winter and standard, they are just too long. She's ended up using borrowed 70cm and 80cm skis this winter instead. There are youtube videos posted by LevelNine that are good at explaining how to choose children's ski sizes and would have resulted in my buying far shorter skis that could have been used this winter. Videos I unfortunately only discovered after buying these skis. Would have been great if links to these videos had been on LevelNine's website. Ultimately would I buy from LevelNine and buy this package again? Yes. I would just be more careful and do more research when choosing the size and not just trusted the website's size guide. Wonderful!Review by Amy
I am not a skier, so ordering skis for my son online seemed risky but I love a good price so I went for it. I am so glad we did, the ordering process was made easy and the online chat answered my questions so I ordered the equipment right. They arrived when they said and we headed right out to our local mountain. My son was able to slide right into them and go! He has been at least a dozen times since he got them and he still loves them!. My only negative is the tops seem to scratch easy but maybe it's the color or maybe that happens to all skis, as I said before I don't have any experience with skiing. Definitely will purchase from level nine again as these boys tend to grow quickly. Thank-you for making it easy on this busy mom! (Posted on 1/27/2015)

Thanks for the fast learning!Review by Mark F.
I am so pleased with the Puzzle ski package! I have two children (5 and 7 years old) who were learning to ski, but rental costs limited how often we could go. The Puzzle/Roces package was the right answer. We no longer have to wait an hour to get rental equipment, and they have consistency in the equipment they are using. Having their own equipment helped the kids enjoy skiing more. They learned pretty fast, and now I have 2 Wedge-eze that I no longer use! (Posted on 1/14/2015)
