Home, Home on the Range! Where the deer and the antelope ski! The Defiance Range Package includes the magnificent Range Twin Tip Ski, Look Team 4 Bindings and the beloved Roces Adjustable boots. The Range is a lightweight, easy turning ski designed to jump-start your little ones' skills on the slopes. The paper cutout mountain range is definitely one of our favorites (since we designed it, how could it not be) and we know the kids will love it too. The Look Team 4 binding comes mounted to the ski and has an adjustable heel piece that will extend to fit a couple sizes bigger or smaller. The Roces Adjustable boots come included which are pretty much the best bang for your buck. They can adjust to 6 different sizes in each boot which prevents you from having to buy boots every year for your growing little rippers.

Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Package Information: We provide complete binding adjustment to all packages purchased at no extra cost to you. After you complete checkout and payment a mounting form will popup for you to enter the skier information to go along with this purchase. If you don't know all the information required, Please fill out the form to the best of your ability.

Look Team 4 Binding Included: This ski comes with the Look Team 4 binding included. It has a DIN range that goes from .75-4.5 which is ideal for kids of all ability levels. This binding also has an extendable heel piece that can adjust quite a bit to fit a wide range of boot sizes without re-mounting the binding.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. It's 2016! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty so not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.

Composite Core: This ski features a composite core, which has a softer flex and is lighter weight than wood cores. Junior, entry level, and sometimes even women's models have this type of core to make skiing more enjoyable, and less work.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Active Camber: In a world of early rise, rocker, and reverse camber, there still is a need for traditional full camber skis. The edge grip and stability is unmatched on groomed snow. This ski gets maximum edge to the snow, so it helps skiers skiing the firm stuff, or just prefer the 'feel' of traditional camber skis.

Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.

Our friend Rich has made an informative video series on teaching young children to ski. Labelled coincidentally enough teachchildrenskiing.com it's useful to those of you with skiers you would like to introduce to the sport.

The Getting Started Guide: We have curated a list of everything you will need to get into skiing. Making it easy for those who are not yet confident in their purchase!

For The Kids: A select list of our favorite junior gear. Hand picked by our very own ski gurus. This product made the cut.

I get the whole adjustable boot idea, but I'm not sure how the boot liner would continue to fit during the adjustment process. I am interested in buying 2 packages. Thanks, Bill

Hi. I'm looking at this package for my daughter but am unsure about ski length. She's 118cm (think that 3'11?) so between the heights recommended for 100 and 110cm skis. The ski season down here doesn't start for another couple of months so obviously may grow more... She's not a complete beginner - had a few lessons last year and could get down beginner slopes on her own ok - but not sure I'd class her as intermediate either! She's about 26kg (57lbs?) if that makes a difference. Thanks

I got this set for my 7 yr old. The grow with you boots are amazing and the skis and bindings are top quality for his needs. I highly recommend. The set pays for itself in one ski vacation's worth of renting boots and skis!!! (Posted on 3/16/2016)

After a day to adjust to a ski that's a bit longer than last year's, we couldn't get her off the mountain. Boots are breaking in great. Love that they'll grow with her. Service from L9 was spot on! (Posted on 1/19/2016)

We ordered this package on a Tuesday and got them on Thursday morning. They were ready to go out of the box! I didn't have to take them anywhere to get the bindings adjusted. That was wonderful. I really appreciate all the charts and helpful tips when I was ordering these. I was really stressed about getting the right sizes, because I haven't bought my kids skis before. Everything fits perfectly!

The Boots: Fantastic! I love that we can adjust up to six sizes. They are so easy to adjust, I didn't even break a nail. They are very comfortable. The thing I think I like most of all, is the fact that you don't have to readjust the bindings every time you change sizes.

The Skis: Well made! These skis are lightweight sturdy construction, and beautiful. Can't wait to try them out on the hill.

Overall I am pleased with this package. I would definitely recommend them! (Posted on 12/10/2015)

When ordering latest skis & boots for my 10 yr old boy I totally screwed up the ski length & boot size. L9 staff caught my error and got right back to me and made the order perfect. Being from New Zealand made getting everything correct, critical. L9 Rocks ! (Posted on 7/21/2015)
