Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Package Information: We provide complete binding adjustment to all packages purchased at no extra cost to you. After you complete checkout and payment a mounting form will popup for you to enter the skier information to go along with this purchase. If you don't know all the information required, Please fill out the form to the best of your ability.

Look Team 2 Binding Included: This ski comes with the Look Team 4 binding included. It has a DIN range that goes from .5-2.5 which is ideal for smaller kids and toddlers just starting out. This binding also has an extendable heel piece that can adjust quite a bit to fit a wide range of boot sizes without re-mounting the binding.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. It's 2016! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty so not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.

Composite Core: This ski features a composite core, which has a softer flex and is lighter weight than wood cores. Junior, entry level, and sometimes even women's models have this type of core to make skiing more enjoyable, and less work.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Active Camber: In a world of early rise, rocker, and reverse camber, there still is a need for traditional full camber skis. The edge grip and stability is unmatched on groomed snow. This ski gets maximum edge to the snow, so it helps skiers skiing the firm stuff, or just prefer the 'feel' of traditional camber skis.

Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.

Our friend Rich has made an informative video series on teaching young children to ski. Labelled coincidentally enough teachchildrenskiing.com it's useful to those of you with skiers you would like to introduce to the sport.

The Getting Started Guide: We have curated a list of everything you will need to get into skiing. Making it easy for those who are not yet confident in their purchase!

For The Kids: A select list of our favorite junior gear. Hand picked by our very own ski gurus. This product made the cut.

Great DecisionReview by Emily

After reading online reviews of these adjustable boots, I decided to purchase this package last season for my small, just turned six years old daughter, and a similar package for my just turned four son. We could not have been more pleased. Having good gear made all the difference. We don't live near a mountain, and only get two ski trips in a year. The first trip of the season we used rental gear and the kids skiing was a bust. Put this gear on for the second trip, and the kids were skiing on their own within and hour or two. Good gear, and watching a few youtube videos on teaching your kids to ski was way more cost effective with better results than the private lessons I have paid for in the past. Needless to say we are very pleased! (Posted on 12/15/2015)

I ordered this ski package for my 7yr old daughter, and couldn't be more pleased. The skis are adorable, and everything came sized and adjusted perfectly. Not only that, but I am in Perth Western Australia and from the day ordered until in my lounge room it was 4 days total. Incredible. I can't even get anything shipped within Australia in that time frame. Highly recommend!!! (Posted on 6/27/2015)
