The Defiance Trio Girl's package included skis, bindings and boots to get your young ladies out on the slopes all for one low price. The Defiance Trio is an excellent all mountain kid's ski that's durable and lightweight making it very easy to maneuver. We chose the Tyrolia SX 4.5 kid's bindings since they compliment this ski quite well in terms of look and performance. The SX 4.5's have a DIN range from .75-4.5, perfect for girl skiers. Finally the tried and true Roces adjustable ski boots are also included that adjust and grow with your child's foot! Why spend money on new kid's boots every season when you can get at least two out of a pair of Roces. There are a few colors designed to match the colors on the ski which makes for a great deal with a package that looks great too!

Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

Defiance Skis: Defiance Skis is an American ski company founded solely to provide high quality, durable equipment at realistic prices. It's 2016! And this is the internet! Shoppers shouldn't have to resort to a decision between renting or buying used gear, and really shouldn't have to spend $800 equipping a beginning skier! All Defiance products are covered under a Lifetime Warranty so not to worry, if anything happens that shouldn't, L9 has gotcha covered. Stay beholden to the big box ski 'sales' if you must, or Defy the Ordinary, the decision is yours and yours alone.

Ideal Target Skier: Developing Young Skier: Anywhere from first timers to advanced youth skiers, that still have a lot to learn about skiing. They might ski fast sometimes, and have a blast, but aren't comfortable with some areas of the mountain.

Should I Choose 4.5 or 7.5 Din Bindings?: There are two types of binding options: 4.5 DIN and 7.5 DIN.The 4.5 DIN is best for any junior skier under 80 lbs and the 7.5 DIN is best for junior skiers who weigh over 80 lbs. The numbers indicate the maximum DIN values for each of the bindings, the 7.5 is higher so its generally for older junior skiers and the 4.5 is perfect for the younger, shorter skiers. If you are still confused, it's okay we are always here to help you out!

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Fiber Tech Wrap: A fiberglass network that surrounds the core of the ski. This technology helps the ski flex evenly, creating a smooth, effortless turn.

Active Camber: In a world of early rise, rocker, and reverse camber, there still is a need for traditional full camber skis. The edge grip and stability is unmatched on groomed snow. This ski gets maximum edge to the snow, so it helps skiers skiing the firm stuff, or just prefer the 'feel' of traditional camber skis.

Extruded Base: This durable material requires little maintenance and holds wax for a long period of time, so you don't have to wax as often.

Our friend Rich has made an informative video series on teaching young children to ski. Labelled coincidentally enough it's useful to those of you with skiers you would like to introduce to the sport.

The Getting Started Guide: We have curated a list of everything you will need to get into skiing. Making it easy for those who are not yet confident in their purchase!

For The Kids: A select list of our favorite junior gear. Hand picked by our very own ski gurus. This product made the cut.

Loved every minute of this package today out on the slopes. Skis and bindings set correctly, boots comfortable and stylish. Great product! (Posted on 8/14/2017)
I love my Kit!Review by Milly age 5
Mum bought this kit for me to ski in for the next few years before my little sister grows into them. I have just finished a week skiing in them and I want to go back skiing again and again. My feet stayed dry and warm in my boots, it was easy for me to put all of my gear on myself, and I loved skiing in it. My mum is telling everyone they should get these kit-outs. (Posted on 7/9/2017)
Money saving skisReview by Skigirls
This is my 4th set of defiance adjustable skis. I have 3 girls, and my little one is on her 2nd set. They are easy to adjust, they look cute, and they will pay for themselves over renting. Buy them, you won't regret it...and if you keep them nice you can always resell them:) (Posted on 2/25/2017)
Great valueReview by Tracy
I got this package for my 6 year-old daughter. I wasn't sure about the adjustable boots. They got great reviews but seemed like they might be better in theory. Well I have them on the smallest setting, they fit great and my daughter reports that they are comfortable. We could very well get 3 seasons out of these boots. The skis are fantastic as well. She's been doing great with this package so far this season. It will probably benefit her to have the same equipment as you do get used to it a bit. (I wrote a review separately for the skis as well.)

I would highly recommend this package. If you plan on skiing a few times a season, it will definitely pay for itself without having to rent. This was the best deal I could find.

I researched used equipment on Craigslist and eBay but this was the ideal option for us. (Posted on 2/9/2017)
