The Amphibio XTi 82's, are stiff, fast, extremely versatile, and surprisingly accessible for such a technologically packed ski. At 82mm underfoot, this ski will be a great everyday resort ski; totally content with carving hardpack all day if that what there is, but floaty enough for some powder, sturdy enough for some crud and nimble enough for some bumps. Take a look at the tech details lower down on the page, this ski has a bunch of new technologies that we don't have room for in this blurb!

Details

Integrated ELX 12.0 Binding: : These skis come with an Elan ELX 12.0 binding included. The ELX is a fusion binding that utilizes a secure sizing mechanism that locks into place, preventing the bindings from sliding out of place. These bindings will compliment your Amphibio ski quite well. The din range goes from 3.5-12 and is adjustable to almost any boot size.

Double Titanal Layering: This ski features two layers of Titanal metal alloy, one just above the base, one just below the topsheet. This gives the ski extra stiffness and strength while creating a dampening, or shock absorbing, effect to the ski. This is usually found in the highest grade of racing and competition level freeride skis.

Ideal Target Skier: Weekend Warrior/Charger: These skiers were once upon a time ski bums, or very proficient skiers in college, then landed an internship that led to a 70 hour work week and a spouse and 2.5 kids. They are still great skiers, and ski hard every chance they get on steeps, moguls, powder... whatever they can get their hands on.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Waveflex Technology: Elan's Waveflex is literally waves bored out of the core of the ski, you can see and feel the topsheet has a wave-like texture. The purpose of these waves is to provide a harmonious flex pattern throughout the ski, and lightens up the overall weight of the ski without giving up torsional rigidity.

RST Sidewalls: Very thick, durable and strong sidewalls will help the skier maintain power through turns and through a variety of snow conditions.

Product Questions

Product Questions

Does this rocker design ski shorter like most rockers seem to? In other words, I'm 6'2' and about 185 (upper level intermediate/advanced). I tend to ski on East Coast hardpack and I prefer tight turns and carving to straight bombing runs (though I do those too). Most of the recommendations I am getting from sale staff is to ski longer than normal (170's) and reach into the 180cm region. These come in 176 and 182, so I'm kinda lost at which to look into given the unique Amphibio design.

I ski 50-70 days a season. I am 6'5" 230lbs. This ski is awesome. Whether your into high speed carving ,ripping bump lines ,or snaking trees these skis handle it all.
They are built for strong aggressive skiers.
I have the 182 and they live up to my motto

3 rules of Skiing: 1) look good, 2) know how to ski 3) look good. From the moment I clicked in to the fusion bindings I knew I was on a good wicket. Excessive knee flex did not transfer to loss of control and unwarranted shutter along the spine of the Ski and from what I could tell the waveflex technology greatly assisted in maintaining ski stability. Most impressive was the rocker/camber profiles - I felt totally in control transferring weight from one side to the other. That first feel will surely materialise when I actually take them out of the garage and onto the snow - unless El Nino has other ideas! If nothing else they look good:) (Posted on 6/2/2015)
