The Fischer Motive 86 Ti is an all mountain machine designed to compete with the other brands take on this style of ski like the Rossi Experience 88 or Head Rev 90. Fischer is famous for their race skis, so you can trust that the Motive 86 will carve turns almost effortlessly on hardpack, but this has All Mtn rocker so the soft snow will be easy peasy. This ski features Fischer's AirTec Ti technology which makes this ski very lightweight but solid at high speeds. These skis are best suited for upper intermediate to expert skiers who spend about half their time on trail and the other half in the trees.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover: This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers.

Expert Binding Choices: Some of the binding options (i.e. the Head GTO 15) available for this ski have high din ranges that start at 8 or 9. A very small percentage of skiers will be suitable for these bindings. If you know that you usually set your din at 8 or above, you are in the clear for a high din binding. Otherwise, those bindings are for EXPERT SKIERS ONLY!

Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.''

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Sintered Base: The material used for the base is harder, and therefore more durable than other options (Extruded). This material should be waxed regularly for best performance.

Titanium Layer: A thin, but strong layer of Titanium sits under the topsheet of this ski. Not only does it make the ski stronger, it keeps it lighter than other metals, and also creates a dampening effect for the ski. This means it rides smoother over bumpy terrain.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

We Have Recommended Some Bindings For You: You will notice there is a dropdown menu that says "Ski Bindings" above. These are simply a list of curated bindings we recommend will work best for this particular ski but other bindings will work as well. There are a few factors i.e. brake width, DIN range, ability level that determine an appropriate binding choice, so let us know if you need assistance.

AirTec Ti Construction: The Air Tec wood core has been given an elaborate, offset milled structure which, on the one hand, makes the core 25% lighter and, on the other hand maintains the outstanding ski performance, both flex and torsion remain the same. A special milling finish of the full-surface Titanal Shell saves even more weight, especially in the All Mountain sector.

A decent ski for lots of conditionsReview by lance
Rating
I wanted a full-on carver for spring mornings but a ski that would go all over the mountain sometimes in lots of conditions. This comes fairly close but it is not the strongest carver. I am 60kg/167cm expert skier. I bought 168cm skis after considering the 177 as too long for what I wanted. In past my Fischer skis have been burley boards that did not require long edges. These do. Buy a longer ski than you might if you wanna rip on 'em. These hook up very well (I de-tune a bit on only the early-rise part in the shovel). They will lose grip if you really stand on it. A longer ski would help me. These are not stiffies like Head Monster skis. (Posted on 4/1/2016)

Decided to treat myself for Xmas after buying vacation home in Park City. Found Level 9 after on-line search and got great advice for new gear. Atomic had solution for wide feet and went with Fischer skis. I'm in mid 50s and now prefer to cruise though I'll still ski Blacks now and then. Was able to pick up gear in Salt Lake shop and head right up to resort. Best gear I've ever owned- outstanding advice, service and prices! (Was able to buy prior year boots for a steal)! Great job and thx for help! (Posted on 1/2/2016)
