The Big Stix 100 maintains the 'skiability' for all mountain purposes but with the tip and tail early rise (Freeski rocker), gets some of the floating benefits as the 122 for the powder snow. The twin tip, although not a park ski, comes in handy for skiing in tight trees and chutes, and for the more progressive skiers, will help land switch trick in powder. The Fischer Big Stix 100 is great as a dedicated east coast powder ski or a nice addition to a quiver as a wide all mountain slayer. Advanced to Expert skiers will feel right at home in any snow conditions.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Expert Binding Choices: Some of the binding options (i.e. the Head GTO 15) available for this ski have high din ranges that start at 8 or 9. A very small percentage of skiers will be suitable for these bindings. If you know that you usually set your din at 8 or above, you are in the clear for a high din binding. Otherwise, those bindings are for EXPERT SKIERS ONLY!

Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.''

Ideal Target Skier: West Coast All Mountain Skier: Skiers on the west coast will enjoy this ski as an all mountain, do everything model, while skiers on the east coast will find this more suitable for powder skiing, or when there is chopped up crud to be had.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Sintered Base: The material used for the base is harder, and therefore more durable than other options (Extruded). This material should be waxed regularly for best performance.

Titanium Layer: A thin, but strong layer of Titanium sits under the topsheet of this ski. Not only does it make the ski stronger, it keeps it lighter than other metals, and also creates a dampening effect for the ski. This means it rides smoother over bumpy terrain.

Air Carbon Ti: The core of this ski is made up of a lightweight mix of Air carbon and titanium. Fischer says its guarantees easier handling. We say it lightens up the ski without loosing the good characteristics of heavy, high performance skis.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

We Have Recommended Some Bindings For You: You will notice there is a dropdown menu that says "Ski Bindings" above. These are simply a list of curated bindings we recommend will work best for this particular ski but other bindings will work as well. There are a few factors i.e. brake width, DIN range, ability level that determine an appropriate binding choice, so let us know if you need assistance.

AirTec Ti Construction: The Air Tec wood core has been given an elaborate, offset milled structure which, on the one hand, makes the core 25% lighter and, on the other hand maintains the outstanding ski performance, both flex and torsion remain the same. A special milling finish of the full-surface Titanal Shell saves even more weight, especially in the All Mountain sector.

Me:
Lifetime racer and race coach.
Level 9-10 skier.
Single digit handicap Nastar racer.
First pair of non race skis.

The skis:
Super fun and light... like really light.
Really easy to turn. (Compared to race skis).
Actually laid down great carve on SOFT groomers.
In the powder and tight steep trees of Mt. Bohemia they rocked. That was my first time back in powder in a lot of years but they were a blast and floated, smeared, and went anywhere with ease and did just fine in the cut up stuff late in the day too plus allowed me to keep up with the hot shot kid 1/2 my age just in from the real mountains.
Back at my home hill on hard, really hard, snow I learned these are soft snow skis and they are NOT a fan of hard snow or speed. (I know speed is relative but I'm used to waiting for EVERYONE except my race coach buddies).
Overall:
Fun. Light. Playful. Made me feel like a kid. (Posted on 2/15/2017)

I bought these skis before I went to Japan for the 15/16 season and of course they killed in the deep pow, steeps and trees but the real surprise for me has been bringing them back to Aus...
They shred the hard pack with minimal chatter and sick edge stability and eat up the endless crud and slush we get here as if it were riding freshies!!
Ice days aside, if you ski in Aus you need this ski (or something similar) - not as powder dedicate, but as your everyday ride. (Posted on 8/9/2016)
