The Ranger 12 Thermoshape men's ski boots are a reincarnate of the Vacuum fit boots that have made such a splash in the world of boot fitting. The Thermoplastic has a low melting point allowing the shell of the boot to be shaped to your foot during the molding process. Then at ambient temperatures, meaning any temperature you will encounter on the mountain, the plastic behaves as a stiff charge-ready ski boot should. This molding process of the shell and liner isn't necessary to acheive a great fit in these high end boots, but it does help with smooting out problem areas. If you are looking to get a killer deal on a pair of boots that ski as hard as you do, give some thought to these lookers.

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Details

Vacuum Fit Not Required: This boot sports Fischer's Vacuum Fit Technology and there is the option of going through the molding process at a local Fischer dealer for a fee or we can mold the boots for free if you come to our SLC store. However, the boots can be skied right out of the box without hindering any performance or fit. Of course, the Vacuum fit is great, but if you slip the boot on and it feels good, then go ski it!

Fischer Vacuum Fit System: This proprietary heat molding system from Fischer allows skiers to get a 100% guaranteed fit by molding the shell and liner in just 20 minutes at a certified Fischer Dealer. The process uses heat, cooling pads, air pressure and a special Vacuum Fit Stand that ensures a precise fit for the entire boot.

120 Flex Rating: This boot is too stiff for beginners and even most intermediates. At this flex, the skier should be advanced to expert level, comfortable skiing at high speeds anywhere on the mountain.

96-106mm Last: Right out of the box, this boot has a 100mm last which offers an expertly performing low-volume fit. Boots of this last width can run the gamut from very tight fitting to reasonably comfortable, but they will all fit much much tighter than a rental or intermediate boot. Through the Vacuum Fit Process, the shell can mold between 96-106mm depending on your foot width. This mold-ability opens this boot up a much wider range of foot widths than ever before.

Find a Vacuum Fit Dealer: Follow to locate the closest Fischer Vacuum Fit dealer that will be able to mold your boots you purchased from L9.

Seamless Slider: Smooth material on the inside back of the liner to help the foot slide in and out of the boot with less effort.

Vibram Pads: This boot features Vibram rubber soles or grip pads in the heel and toe for added security while traversing the formidable parking lot.

Tongue Pull: A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.

Full Thermo Fit Liner: Body heat activates the material in this liner to shape to the skier's foot faster than a standard liner. The insulation also has heat reflective properties to keep the warm in, and the cold out.

Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles: These aluminum buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

Adjustable rear spoiler: With the turn of an allen key, the height at the top rear of the boot can be adjusted. If you are taller than average for your boot size, or if you just want the extra support at the back of the leg, you can adjust the spoiler up about 1cm from standard. This will also pitch you forward slightly into a more aggressive stance.

Replaceable Toe and Heel Pads: This is a must-have for skiers that don't live in ski in/ski out condos. When your ski tech tells you that you have to buy new boots because the soles are worn down too much, just laugh at him and tell him to order you a new set of sole plates.

Hotronic Prepared: The liner is prepared to accept a Hotronic boot heating system. Just thread the heat cable through the liner and attach the battery pack. Hotronic not included, of course.

45mm Strap: Super wide strap found on high performance boots. The extra width spreads out the force while skiing and reduces the pressure point on the upper shin.

SOMA-Tec: The positioning of the feet in a SOMA boot is in a natural 'V' shape, with the toes pointed slightly outward, and the heels slightly inward. This positioning puts the skier's center of gravity over the middle of the ski for better control and edging power. This design also creates less stress on the knee and ankle joints.

Hike/Ride Lock: A two lever switch located on the rear of the boot enables the skier to switch between three modes Hike, Ride and Lock. Hike offers maximum freedom of motion in the cuff for easy walking. "Ride" is the in between while "Lock" is downhill race performance.

On/Off Piste Mode: The boot can be adapted according to the respective snow conditions. Removed spoiler for more forward lean and hard piste conditions (On Piste Mode). Lowered spoiler for less forward lean for deep snow and soft piste conditions.

Full Custom Thermo Toebox: The elastic toebox in special neoprene and lycra offers better warmth insulation and ideal fitting for the individual forefoot width.

Ultralon Heel/Ankle Padding: Perfect heel fit and direct power transfer through the thermo-adjustment of the ankle padding. This material is ideal for the Vacuum Fit process and ensures a comfortable, snug fit in the heel of the boot.

So can the shells be vacuum fit much like the actual "vacuum" Rangers? I've been getting mixed answers from different sources.
