Fischer took their world cup race boot, softened it up, added shock absorption and gave it a new paint job and out came the Soma X 120. The purple and green model reminds us of the Joker's getup from Batman! Looks aside, these have a stiff 120 flex rating and a 98mm last which is a close fit. You will not find a boot of this caliber at this low of a price. If you aren't a fan of the look, your pants will be covering most of it!

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Description

Details

98mm last: Forefoot width of 98mm for racing performance, not as concerned about comfort, although modern boots do a great job of keeping their performance boots quite comfortable.

Target Skier: Advanced to Expert: These boots are stiff enough and performance oriented enough, that we would recommend them to advanced skiers who will be aggressively skiing the whole mountain. Beginners should look elsewhere!

120 Flex Rating: This boot is too stiff for beginners and even most intermediates. At this flex, the skier should be advanced to expert level, comfortable skiing at high speeds anywhere on the mountain.

Seamless Slider: Smooth material on the inside back of the liner to help the foot slide in and out of the boot with less effort.

Micro-adjustable alloy buckles: These alloy buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

Removable Rear Spoiler: The spoiler that sits at the back of the cuff can be removed for extra leg room or to obtain a more upright stance.

Full Thermo Fit Liner: Body heat activates the material in this liner to shape to the skier's foot faster than a standard liner. The insulation also has heat reflective properties to keep the warm in, and the cold out.

40mm strap: Super wide strap found on high performance boots. The extra width spreads out the force while skiing and reduces the pressure point on the upper shin.

Sensitive Toebox: Neoprene in the toe of the liner adds extra insulation, and is flexible for skiers that need a precise fit with their boots.

Double Canting: Two adjustment bolts, one each side of the ankle, allow for maximum adjustment for leg/knee alignment problems. The canting helps the skis stay flat on the ground while you are still bow-legged or knock-kneed.

SOMA-Tec: The positioning of the feet in a SOMA boot is in a natural 'V' shape, with the toes pointed slightly outward, and the heels slightly inward. This positioning puts the skier's center of gravity over the middle of the ski for better control and edging power. This design also creates less stress on the knee and ankle joints.

Soma X120 BootReview by SkiIdaho

This is an awesome boot, especially for the price. As some of the other reviews stated, this boot is not as stiff as advertised. Yes, rigid chassis, but not as rigid in the shaft, which is ok for me. I've been skiing on these for 5 or 6 times now in single digit temps and they do alright as far as keeping my feet warm, which surprised me with the other reviews. The buckles are easy to lace up and overall I like how the boot puts you forward into an aggressive skiing position. I love the crazy color and design on the boots too. I really shocked my wife when I bought these and basically said "I don't care what people think of my boots. As long as I'm comfortable!" I highly recommend these! (Posted on 1/11/2017)
A good basis for modificationReview by HB

The chassis is quite rigid but the shaft is soft, I have replaced this with my world cup 150 shafts and now have a boot that you can get into without bruising your instep and still have strong edge control, the world cup canting is super. Not a boot (nor any Fischer that I am aware of) for really cold days. Works better with a stronger liner. (Posted on 2/24/2016)
Great responsive bootReview by B

Very responsive, extremely comfortable. Not for super cold days with pow. Our feet froze. For a liner to be thin enough to be this responsive there is some trade off. Win beer league races with this, don't think of it as a pow day boot and you will love it. (Posted on 10/11/2015)

Pros: Simple design without lots of "features". Good initial fit to my foot.
Cons: Looks like low quality buckle hardware - only time will tell - hope I'm wrong

Shell design is very similar to the Fischer RC4 boot. Nice switch to cant adjust based on an insert (instead of that dog tooth design). With my mandatory shell punchouts they are very comfortable after well over 50hrs of high intensity skiing. They are flex rated at 120 but are much softer than my RC4 at 130. (But I like that sometimes too!) It is also much easier to enter and remove than the RC4, especially below room temps. (Posted on 3/15/2014)
Fischer Soma 120 BootsReview by Downunder

Pros: Great fit on the foot, shaft cuff required a lot of streaching to accomodate my calf. Precise edge control.
Cons: The power strap had to be moved as the tightening loop was in the wrong place for comfort. Why no toe replaceable toe pieces ? The adjustable buckles are very stiff to micro adjust.

After spending $Australian 120 on footbeds and customising a great boot for advanced to expert. (Posted on 10/28/2013)
X120 REVIEWReview by Paul
Rating
Pros: Comfy Boot, very responsive
Cons: Not anywhere near as stiff as advertised. No replaceable toe piece.
Location: Jindabyne, Australia
This is a nice boot, no bones about it. Funky colours and graphics, awesome liner that molds perfectly and fully adjustable buckles are always nice. Its a responsive boot because the last is so narrow and it fits perfectly. Unfortunately it isnt anywhere near 120 stiff, more like 100. Shame really. I know that there isnt really a standard and all companies self rate their boots but, I guess there should be a prerequisite that needs to be met for certain stiffness targets. Another drawback is the lack of replaceable toe pieces. Yes the heel can be replaced but not the toe? Bit odd really. Summing up, its a great fitting and performing boot for the intermediate to advanced skier but don't expect race stiffness, it aint there. (Posted on 7/10/2013)
