The Fischer Viron 12 was designed based on the combination of two things: high end performance (120 flex) and comfort (103mm last). It's only been in the past 5 years or so that boot manufacturers have started making stiffer boots that are designed for wider feet. Gone are the days of cramming your feet into a 95mm lasted boot when a wider boot is more appropriate. Especially since this boot has Fischer's Vacuum Comfort Fit where the lower part of the shell and liner can be molded exactly to the shape of your foot. The last width of the boot can fall in the range of 103-108mm, for wide or even wider feet. You can ski this boot unmolded though, right out of the box. We recommend this boot for advanced skiers who are over the whole racing fit but want something that will hold up when skiing hard and fast.

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Details

Vacuum Fit Not Required: This boot sports Fischer's Vacuum Fit Technology and there is the option of going through the molding process at a local Fischer dealer for a fee or we can mold the boots for free if you come to our SLC store. However, the boots can be skied right out of the box without hindering any performance or fit. Of course, the Vacuum fit is great, but if you slip the boot on and it feels good, then go ski it!

Fischer Vacuum Comfort Fit: The Comfort Fit Vacuum uses the same system as the regular Vacuum boots, but the comfort fit boots only can get molded in the bottom half of the boot. This proprietary heat molding system from Fischer allows skiers to get a 100% guaranteed fit by molding the shell and liner in just 20 minutes at a certified Fischer Dealer. The process uses heat, cooling pads, air pressure and a special Vacuum Fit Stand that ensures a precise fit for the entire boot.

120 Flex Rating: This boot is too stiff for beginners and even most intermediates. At this flex, the skier should be advanced to expert level, comfortable skiing at high speeds anywhere on the mountain.

103-108mm Last Width: Right out of the box, this boot has a 103mm last which offers a high-volume fit great for intermediate to advanced skiers. Through the Vacuum Fit Process, the shell can mold between 103-108mm depending on your foot width. This mold-ability opens this boot up a much wider range of foot widths than ever before.

Seamless Slider: Smooth material on the inside back of the liner to help the foot slide in and out of the boot with less effort.

Tongue Pull: A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.

35mm strap: Wider than average strap at the top of the boot to help keep the boot together and to give good performance while skiing.

Full Thermo Fit Liner: Body heat activates the material in this liner to shape to the skier's foot faster than a standard liner. The insulation also has heat reflective properties to keep the warm in, and the cold out.

Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles: These aluminum buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

Replaceable Toe and Heel Pads: This is a must-have for skiers that don't live in ski in/ski out condos. When your ski tech tells you that you have to buy new boots because the soles are worn down too much, just laugh at him and tell him to order you a new set of sole plates.

SOMA-Tec: The positioning of the feet in a SOMA boot is in a natural 'V' shape, with the toes pointed slightly outward, and the heels slightly inward. This positioning puts the skier's center of gravity over the middle of the ski for better control and edging power. This design also creates less stress on the knee and ankle joints.

Full Custom Thermo Toebox: The elastic toebox in special neoprene and lycra offers better warmth insulation and ideal fitting for the individual forefoot width.

OK so I've skied them now.. My rating of 4-stars stands. They're responsive, have good heel hold, and for a stiff boot they don't leave me with bruised shins. That's the good bit.

Now for the not so good.. The liners.

What I didn't expect was after having the vacuum fit done and completing a few days skiing (liner break-in time), I was continually having to tighten the ankle and calf buckles.. every day. That was annoying, and it made my feet cold and numb.

I'm going to try heat molding them with the "microwaved rice in a stocking" method.. if that doesn't work, then I think a pair of Intuitions is on the cards for next season.

Nice boot.. Review by SkierDad

Yes these boots do fit straight out of the box.. well the 26.5's did on my foot anyway, although they could use a vacuum fit around the ankle and heel pockets. I can lift my heel ever so slightly if I try and stand on my tiptoes.

For a subjective reference (for what it's worth) My foot is 101mm wide and 26.4mm long, and I have about 13mm behind my heel in the boots with the liner removed. My arch and instep is probably slightly higher than "average" and these boots are comfy across the instep with the toe buckles on minimum tension (as they should be).

Review will be updated once I actually ski on these, come back in late December for an update.

Only downside I can see so far is the lack of Comfort Fit dealers. I see that Fischer are moving away from the CF line now, to a thermofit, while still retaining the vacuum fits..

I just have to find someone in the Kelowna (or Kamloops/Sun Peaks) area who can vac them for me (I'm travelling from Australia). Any ideas?? (Posted on 12/1/2015)

I bought these boots a few months ago and had them vacuum fitted for a fee at a ski shop. The fit was exactly as described and the boot is well made, the liner is especially impressive. The vacuum fitting was interesting (I was skeptical) but does work well, my wide rather odd foot was nicely accommodated.

I have been continually impressed by Levelnine. The advice has always been spot on, the delivery prompt, even to the far reaches of Canada.

I remain a happy customer! (Posted on 10/31/2015)
