If all mountain skiing with a groomer oriented pair of hard charging carving skis is your kind of thing then you've come to the right place. The Fischer XTR PRO MTN 80 skis with the versatile rental style RS10 Powerrail Bindings are just that. A lightweight AirTec wood core, and full length sidewalls of high density ABS rubber combine to yield confidence inspiring edge hold that will give you something to chirp about. Their Tip Rocker aids in ease of turning both on and off trail, making this a great East Coast hardpack all mountain ski. The construction of this ski uses technology handed down from Fischer's Wold Cup racing line. That makes this ski binding combo a one two punch for a knockout in value.

Description

Details

Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover: This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Ultra slim shovel with carbon inlay improves maneuverability at high stability. It also looks really cool, so that's a bonus.

Sintered Base: The material used for the base is harder, and therefore more durable than other options (Extruded). This material should be waxed regularly for best performance.

Air Tec Construction: The Air Tec wood core has been given an elaborate, offset milled structure which, on the one hand, makes the core 25% lighter and, on the other hand maintains the outstanding ski performance, both flex and torsion remain the same.

Product Questions

Product Questions

I rented a pair of Fischer XTR Pro Mtn 80s as demos and loved them, but the ski shops near me sell only the retail version Pro Mtn 80 (without the XTR). Your price on these XTRs is well below the retail model. What do you understand the difference to be between the rental version and the retail sale version?

Is the XTR Pro MTN 80 an exclusive to Level Nine? I looked at the Fischer site and it is not part of their product line.
