Ideal Target Skier: Casual Cruiser: Sticking mainly to the groomed runs and always keeping speed in check, a Casual Cruiser doesn't even bother with the off trail snow, moguls, jumps, etc.

Early Rise: Somewhere between rocker and traditional sits the Early Rise. This helps the tip of the ski get up in softer snow, and still maintains good edge grip and firm snow performance.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Textured Surface: Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces (aka snakeskin topsheet) are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice.

Tip Protectors: Plastic protectors on the tip increase the durability of the skis and reduce the likelihood of a delamination. Your tips are the most likely edges to get cracked, keep 'em safe with tip protectors and your skis will last for a long long time. If the tip protectors get damaged, it is not as big a deal as if it were to happen to the actual skis themselves.

GPO by Gaspo Skis: GPO is an Austrian Ski manufacturer that prides itself in producing the highest quality skis for all ability levels. They incorporate only the best materials in their ski construction to ensure an exceptional skiing experience. Haven't heard of GPO before? Well don't be alarmed they are made with just as much care and attention to detail as any of the European brands you might be familiar with such as Head, Fischer, Atomic or Dynastar.

Fiberglass Coque with Speed Inserts: A layer of fiberglass stringer inserts that run the length of the ski. This feature helps liven up the ski, providing a snappy response in and out of turns and added stability when skiing a higher speeds. The Coque really knocks this ski up a few notches in term of performance and durability.

Full Length Rubber Suspension Steel Edges: Hard steel edges, secured to the ski with a rubber material that offers some shock absorption so the edges won't pull out of the ski or crack upon impact.

Affordable Skis: Discount doesn't mean cheap. These discount skis are the most bang for your buck. Allowing you to buy ski gear that is great quality at a price that will not break the bank.

I am a pretty big guy - 6'3" 230lbs... An intermediate skier who has been skiing for many year. I enjoy casual skiing with my kids a max of 5-8 times per season. Would these ski's/bindings work for me? The pricing works for me... :) I also saw the INOC X Carver System Skis w/GPO 100 Bindings. Are those a better option?
what sort of prep work should I expect to be doing once these skis arrive? I've never owned my own pair although I'm about an intermediate/advanced skiier. Tips on type of wax, specifically what should I be doing to them before I can get out on the slopes?
I am new to carve skis. I have heard the waist measurement or " number" is good at 80 to 83 What do these numbers relate to? Does the GPO Cross Carver skis have a waist measurement/index?

Good valueReview by Stu
Pros: Good on the groomers
Cons: Fairly skinny (67mm on 160)
Location: Queenstown
Using these for my second season here in Queenstown as an intermediate skier that hadn't done much skiing for a few years. Pretty happy with them on the hard/icy groomed runs that we get here (done about 45 days with them). Haven't used them off-piste, except when it is pretty solid (as that isn't what they are designed for). At $150, these are certainly far better/cheaper than renting for a couple of seasons whilst you build your skills. I think the $499 claimed RRP is a bit of marketing exaggeration, though (these skis were sold by Aldi in Europe, but I don't think anyone other than Level 9 is selling them now). A good ski at this priceReview by H
Pros: Stability
Location: Edmonton
I am an expert skeir and bought these to bomb around with my kids who are beginner/intermediate. The hold suprisingly well at high speed and I was impressed. A little bit of effort to start some turns but I would say these skis would work well for a lot of skier levels, even higher levels and I would recomend. (Posted on 1/19/2015)
New skier, first pairReview by Eddie in Michigan
Pros: They realy do carve
Location: Michigan
I skied last year for the first time on my 62nd birthday and got hooked. Bought these for my wife and I, hers blue and mine red. We both love them. Used them for the first time at Appalachian Ski Mountain in North Caroline. It was 60 degrees and the snow was slush but they turned great. Working on getting parallel going down the mountain. We live in Michigan and headed for the slopes up north this weekend. Anxious to try some real snow. L9 Sports is awesome. The binding setup was spot on for the Dalbello boots I bought with the skis. The guys you get on the phone really know about skiing and their products. My next pair will come from L9 as soon as I wear these out! (Posted on 1/9/2015)

So far these skis are going great. They are light and easy to handle. You have to lean on them a bit when it's icy and steer away from the mashed potatoes. (Posted on 12/28/2014)
