The Total Joy is a brand new ski from Head for 2015 and boy, is this ski light! They have incorporated new Graphene and KOROYD carbon fibers into the design of this ski which makes for an incredibly lightweight and powerful ski that aggressive skiers will love. This 85mm wide ski is fairly stiff, so we recommend it to more advanced lady skiers looking for a ski where groomers are first priority. There is ERA 3.0 All-Ride Rocker so performance off trail performance and turn initiation are enhanced ten-fold. The Total Joy comes complete with the matching Joy 9 SLR binding which will adjust to any ladies boot size at the flick of a switch (255-338mm).

Description

Details

Era 3.0 Rocker/Camber: Head combines Rocker for flotation in soft snow, a progressive radius for better edge contact and grip, and shock absorption to dampen vibrations.

Joy 9 SLR Binding Included: The Joy 9 binding comes included with this ski with a DIN range of 2.5-9 and slides on to the Super Lite Rail track that's adjustable to pretty much any ladies boot size 255-338mm.

Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.''

Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover: This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Speed: Fast: At this speed, these skiers are passing most of the others on blue square runs, and keeping up with most skiers on black diamond runs.

Graphene Technology: GRAPHENE is the first crystal that is two dimensional, giving the material a unique set of properties. It is the thinnest and lightest element ever discovered by mankind. GRAPHENE is also the strongest material on the planet, stronger than diamond and 300 times stronger than steel, all in the thickness of one atom. GRAPHENE is at the center of the new JOY collection, outstanding lightness with a perfectly balanced ski and always in complete control.

Carbon Jacket: A superb combination of durability and performance in a ski topsheet available. A carbon jacket will still allow top speeds but also not weight your ski down.

Textured Surface: Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces (aka snakeskin topsheet) are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice.

Highly Transparent UHM Base: A nifty looking and lightning quick base.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

I see this ski is marketed on the Head site with Head Joy 11 binding (blue ' white), why does it have a Tyrolia binding and what is the difference? Can I get a Head ski with a Head binding? Also regarding the size, I am 58kgs, 158.5 cms, and am thinking the 158cm would be best for me, at present I have a ladies Salomon ski 160cm. I am a bit worried about dropping in length?

Great for stronger skiersReview by Di

I just bought a pair in 163cm, and I love them! They're a lot of ski, you have to be on top of them especially in steep conditions. Totally love the versatility and they turn and carve really well. Short and long turns. If you're an intermediate skiier, I would go down a size. Awesome ski! I'll be keeping these for years to come. (Posted on 2/14/2016)

Very light, skied a lot faster than before, carves on hard pack and ice. Everything I hoped for in a pair of skis. (Posted on 12/30/2015)
