K2 Poacher Skis 2017

SKU: K2POACH17
Bridging the gap between park specific skis and 100mm-ish powder skis is the Poacher from K2. Developed with input from K2 Pros Clayton Vila and Sean Jordan, this ski is intended to drop cliffs in the morning and jib rails in the afternoon. Measuring out to 96mm underfoot with K2 All Terrain Rocker, the Poacher will be very nimble and allow the skier to easily turn the ski which is ideally what park skiers demand. This ski has durable TwinTech Sidewalls and a Carbon Boost Braid layer to give you that extra pop off jumps. If you're a park skier looking for the performance of a park ski but the versatility of a powder ski, the Poacher is your ski of choice.

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

K2 All Terrain Rocker: 20% Tip Rocker, 10% Tail Rocker, 70% Camber. All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Double Barrel Wood Core: Denser core over the edge for durability combined with a less dense center core for reduced swing weight.

Tri-axial Fiberglass: A weave of fiberglass with three directional orientation provides excellent strength to weight ratio and better torsional stiffness as compared to bi-axial weaves.

Carbon Boost Braid: Braided carbon pattern in the forebody and tail for added pop and rebound in the critical areas.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Tail Rocker: Just like Tip rocker, but in the tail, this feature allows the tails of the skis to release easier from the turn to give the skier the ability to turn the skis quicker in tight spots. It also allows skiers to dump speed by forcing the tails out and sliding sideways. The effective edge is reduced because of the tail rocker, so the skis will also be easier to control when forced to ski on the groomed slopes.

Tapered Tip and Tail: These skis are designed with not just a tapered tip, but also a slight amount of taper in the tail. A tapered tip shifts the widest part of the contact further back to reduce tip weight and deflection in soft and variable snow conditions. The tapered tail allows more control as you exit the turn to either accelerate out or scrub speed as the conditions dictate.

Twintech Sidewall: Twin Tip specific construction increases the durability of K2 sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90-degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The TwinTech construction rolls the top material into the sidewall, reducing the angle that is prone to abuse, minimizing ski-to-ski impact damage.

Riveted Tip and Tail: Sometimes park skis have been known to de-laminate on the tips and tails because the skis take much more of a beating than your average all mountain ski. The rivets have been installed on the tips and tails to prevent any problems from occurring.
