Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

The Tour Vario is the perfect addition to your backcountry touring setup. It has a new-school design with soft rubber Positive Angle grip, Security strap and mid- grip extension which will make the ascent worlds easier. The bomber 18mm upper and 16mm lower sections are made of the highest tensile strength Aluminum available and the large diameter snowflake touring basket provides needed flotation for the powder. The Vario is has a wide adjustment range from 44-60in giving you tons of room for adjustment no matter your height.

18mm/16mm Aluminum Shaft: This is an adjustable touring pole that utilizes two different aluminum shaft diameters: 16mm and 18mm in order to easily adjust to different sizes. LIghtweight and strong, aluminum is usually the best way to go.

Leki PAS-S Grip: This particular grip is similar to most ski pole grips but has an extension that extends below so you can choke down on the pole a bit for a more comfortable ascent while touring. Just another feature that puts Leki ahead of the pack when it comes to pole features!

Steel Pole Tips: Steel is strong and can take a beating overtime. That's why steel makes sense for pole tips, it can pierce through the snow easily and will last through some heavy use.

Snowflake Baskets: Leki has incorporated their Snowflake style baskets in this pole which is very lightweight and will stay on top of the fresh snow instead of sinking to the bottom. Efficiency is key when in the back or sidecountry.

Leki Speed Lock System: Highest holding force of all external locking systems on the market for additional safety. Extremely quick adjustment and fastening even when wearing thick gloves in wet weather, ice and snow. Mechanism is self-explanatory and easy to use.
