Ski poles are your friends. They help you maintain proper form and balance, as well as help you get across the flat spots. The only people that shouldn't use poles are kids that cannot parallel yet, true beginners, snowboarders, and park skiers that desperately need to look like snowboarders. So if you aren't one of these categories, you should be using poles.
Sizing poles is easy. Just use the ski pole Sizing chart to give you a good estimate of what length of poles you should be using.
Ideally, your arm should be parallel to the ground when you grasp the pole (with the tip up) below the basket.

There are cases when you can go longer or shorter than what the chart recommends:

  • If you are a bump skier, you should size down 2-8 inches.
  • If you want an aggressive stance for steeps and higher speed skiing, size down 2 inches.
  • If you are doing a lot of park skiing, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you Telemark, size down 2-6 inches
  • If you are powder skiing a lot, size up 2 inches.
  • If you are ski jousting, size up 4-12 inches

We have thousands of poles to choose from, and if we don't have your size, any of our poles are easy to cut to length.

The Getting Started Guide: We have curated a list of everything you will need to get into skiing. Making it easy for those who are not yet confident in their purchase!

Aluminum Construction: This pole is made of lightweight aluminum, which has a very high strength to weight ratio, and they are quite stiff.

All-Mountain Baskets: Baskets that are big enough for powder and small enough for groomers. Basically they are a medium size that will get the job done well enough in any terrain or conditions.

16mm Shaft Diameter: This pole has a 16mm shaft diameter so it stays straight, strong and durable throughout its long life.

Neoprene Straps: Unlike most nylon straps that come standard on many poles, these are made from neoprene. They will stay firmly in place while also wicking away moisture. Thus adding another piece of quick drying equipment to your collection.

L9 Lifetime Warranty: Rest easy, this product is covered by L9's Lifetime Warranty. We stand by our product and will happily warranty any manufacturer's defects for the life of your sweet L9 gear. I know, you don't have to thank us, we are here to help!

Actually my poles were 2016 models but most likely the same quality as 2017, of the three pairs I bought, 2 pairs lost the plastic stoppers that thread on to the bottoms of the poles and the ski shops on the slopes and resorts do not carry replacements that will fit! (Posted on 3/6/2017)

Poles are a great value for the money. The basket unscrewed somehow while I was climbing to the top of Baldi Chutes at Alta. Not a deal breaker and it was probably my fault for not screwing it on tight enough, but I never had that happen before. (Posted on 1/7/2017)

Good basic solid Al poles. At $20 it's about half price of most store prices. Usage tip: before you try to attach the baskets to the poles first heat up pole tips and basket to press them on ALL THE WAY. Otherwise you might not get the basket on fully and lose one out on the mountain. (Posted on 4/1/2016)

Got back into skiing this year after a 20 year break. Happy to re-equip on a budget. These poles were perfect. Lightweight, strong, and the powder basket was great in the slushy California snow this year. Very happy with the purchase, so got sets for my family as well. Thanks L9! (Posted on 2/17/2015)

Pros: Reasonable and useful
Location: NJ
The poles were delivered in padded cardboard perfectly sized for poles, and the poles were in perfect condition. Out skiing in Snowmass for 2 days, and so far the poles are perfect for pushing forward along catwalks and onto lift lines as well as helping steady myself while putting on the skis. If you ski aggressively and use your poles pressure than that (?Moguls) then perhaps you'll need a stronger pole. These are lightweight and strong enough for me. (Posted on 2/2/2015)

Decent ski pole. Not the most fancy (graphics wise), but they look decent, match pretty much everything and work (it's a ski pole - how complicated is it?!) Love the price, the fact that they're aluminum and the lifetime warranty (Posted on 1/30/2015)

Pros: Lightweight, Sleek Looking, Good Handles
Cons: Large Basket
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
I've only taken these poles out twice, but I love them so far. I'm petite and these poles are perfectly lightweight. I got the 44in for being 5'2" and I really enjoy them. The handles are comfortable and grippy with mittens too. Only thing I would change is the basket size, but it's not the biggest deal. Worth the price and delivery was fast! (Posted on 1/28/2015)

Pros: Inexpensive, don't look stupid.
Cons: Who cares. They cost $20 bucks
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
All I know is they function as ski poles, they don't look stupid, and they're cheap. What else is there to say? I don't know jack about skiing, and I'm sure other poles are lighter and more durable, but who cares? Bought these for my gf for christmas to go along with some used skis I got her, and they work spendidly. (Posted on 1/20/2015)

Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Nylon Strap
Location: The NY Snow Belt
I've only had a handful of outings with my new poles and they are more than sufficient. However, I'm curious to see how they hold up over time. It seems as the fabric/nylon strap is showing a bit of premature wear. That being stated, yeah. Pull the trigger. There's nothing wrong with them, and if need be, I'll buy another pair.
