Details

Goggle Pocket: There is a large mesh pocket on the inside of the jacket where you can stuff your goggles while your eating lunch, grabbing an apres ski beverage or just ditching your goggles for sunglasses on a spring day.

10,000g Breathability: Not quite like a cotton sweatshirt, but not a rubber suit either, this fabric still does a great job of transporting moisture away from the body so its not a sauna every time it warms up a bit.

MP3 pocket: Extra pocket to keep your MP3 player rocking music, so you can tune out all that nature stuff.

Lightweight loft filling insulation to keep your body warm and dry for your entire day out on the hill.

Taped seams: For maximum waterproofing, the seams on this piece of outerwear are taped internally. This feature also strengthens the seam and improves the durability.

10,000 Waterproof rating: This is a very high waterproof rating, found on the best outdoor gear available. It will keep you dry even in a downpour of rain, and still has the ability to breathe so it doesn't feel like a garbage bag. There are higher rated fabrics, but for average, even above average users, the 10k is more than enough to get the job done.

Pit Zips: Zippers under the armpit to get some airflow going when you've overdressed, or got overworked from flailing in the powder.

Recco Avalanche Rescue System: This piece is designed with a Recco reflector built in, which can literally be the difference between life and death if you're caught in an avalanche. For backcountry and sidecountry adventures, this Recco enabled jacket is not a replacement for an avalanche beacon, but it always helps to give yourself more chances to get rescued should you get caught up in a slide.

Powder skirt: Extra fabric with an elastic band at the bottom can be snapped together in front to keep snow out from falls or skiing in really deep powder. This feature is very popular among snowboarders, especially when learning, as a lot of time is spent in the snow, rather than on top of it.

Removable Hood: Easily attach or remove the included storm hood. Hood cinches down to keep out the elements.

I've owned both a Columbia and Black Ice jacket for skiing and I like this style the best. Roomy and warm....haven't had a chance to check out the waterproofing but I'm sure it's tops! Thanks...

I have several 3L parkas from mammut, rab, westcomb, millet. This is my favorite all around. The cut is very roomy and the insulation works very well on its own or layering in extreme cold. the pertex works reasonably well as a breathable goretex . The warmth and roominess provides a sense of well being - a very well designed garment (Posted on 1/15/2016)
