The Hero FIS is a Multi-Event ski for junior racers ages 8-14. The Hero shares the same construction as the adult race skis but has a bit softer flex for younger, lighter weight skiers. This sidewall construction ski is ideal for aggressive skiers carving turns at the competitive level. It even has Power Turn Rocker for quicker turn initiation and improved performance in soft snow because you will inevitably have to race on a powder day. The Hero is a flat ski that will work with any binding, take a look at the drop-down menu below where we have curated some ideal options. The maximum sole length allowable for this ski is 265mm (Mondo Size 22/22.5)

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Cascade Tip: This tip is defined as "[using] varying shapes of metal and fiberglass laminates at staggered lengths to provide a lighter extremity. The unique layered shapes control tip torsion which smoothes out turn initiation and improves full edge contact. The lighter weight tip improves the swing weight of the ski for quick and adaptable turn initiation." We could not possibly have described it any better than that.

Speed: Racer: Always pushing the limit of top speed, these skiers get in trouble from Ski Patrol on occasion, and are always the fastest skiers on the mountain.

Rossignol Power Turn Rocker: Smooth carving performance and stability for high performance on trail skiing. There is 90% traditional camber underfoot for power and edge grip for explosive snap with 10% tip rocker for faster turn initiation.

Minicap Sandwich Laminate: This type of constructions is sort of a cross between a sidewall and cap construction. The cap construction maximizes the durability of the ski while sandwich sidewall increases precision and edge control while skiing.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Fiber Tech Wrap: A fiberglass network that surrounds the core of the ski. This technology helps the ski flex evenly, creating a smooth, effortless turn.

Sintered Base: The material used for the base is harder, and therefore more durable than other options (Extruded). This material should be waxed regularly for best performance.

Tip Protectors: Plastic protectors on the tip increase the durability of the skis and reduce the likelihood of a delamination. Your tips are the most likely edges to get cracked, keep 'em safe with tip protectors and your skis will last for a long long time. If the tip protectors get damaged, it is not as big a deal as if it were to happen to the actual skis themselves.
