The Rossi Pursuit HP TPX is intended for the best skiers on the mountain, those who want to carve turns full force and break the sound barrier whenever their skis hit the snow. The Pursuit offers the power of a world cup race ski with more pronounced sidecut for easier carving and quick turns. This ski has titanium layers that stiffen the ski for a more stable ride at high speeds and is mostly cambered for more precise carves on groomed runs. Not to worry though, there is some tip rocker for enhanced performance in soft snow. The included Axial3 140 binding is a burly 14 DIN binding that will match up to this ski quite well..

Binding Specs:
Din Range: 4-14
Size Range: 265-377mm
Weight: 3lbs

Ideal Target Skier: Hard Pack Racer: When maximum speed is needed for racing or just to get some wind blowing through your hair (even though you should be wearing a helmet), these guys and girls look for the stiffer and more stable models. No real need to concern yourself with off trail performance, because these skiers think of the groomed runs as being surrounded by hot lava.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Powder Turn: Rossi's Powder Turn technology is basically a quicker way to say that the tips and tails of these skis are tremendously rockered. Extremely early rise tips and tails will make powder skiing easy, and make the ski behave like a much shorter ski should you find yourself on groomed runs.

Independent Pressuring System: Rossignol's IPS 'concept optimizes transmission of power applied by the boot to the individual right or left edge to boost power and grip. The concave profile amplifies this technology with higher sidewalls to apply even greater pressure to the edge. The concave shape reduces the skis weight by 100gr per pair.' Basically that means the profile of the ski was lightened up without giving up edge hold and power transmission, which is a good thing.

Oversized Sidecut: This sidecut design from Rossignol is an exaggerated parabola that makes turning easier and more stable. All skis nowadays are 'shaped,' but these are 'very shaped,' you could say.

Square Tail: These skis have a square shaped tail, which adds stability to turns on hardpack as well as very steep terrain. Probably not a park ski, though :)

Titanium Basalt Complex: In addition to having a wood core, these skis have a layer of basalt with titanium to add stiffness and strength without added too much to the weight.

Metal Tip Protectors: These skis have rugged tip protectors made of metal that will help fight against chipping and damage to the tips, which is both a performance and cosmetic benefit.

I purchased these skis for going fast on groomers and NASTAR. I used them last weekend and oh my, what a great ski. They are so easy to carve and held very nice on the hard pack. I hit 49mph and got a little scared. I really do not need to go that fast since I am 50 years old. The skis could have went a lot faster.

Get these if you want to go FAST!

If you are looking for a rocket on rails then these are for you. I run these in all conditions in the east, they never lose their edge on icy steeps, run at high speed without chatter and float over crud and death cookies easily with the rocker tips. I'm 6'1" and 285 and run these on Nastar courses everywhere, through gates at night when I'm coaching junior racers, when setting a course and demo'ing skill drills with a group. I've even run them at pretty high speed on a course set for SG training, this is the only place I wish I had something a little more applicable underfoot. Will make you look Ligety like! I purchased these skis online from Australia prior to a US ski trip. Arrived at our hotel and there they were, no hassles at all.
Thanks Level 9, will definitely shop with you again! (Posted on 1/18/2016)

These Rossi's have a slightly different personality than my Head I Peak 78 Pros or my K2 5Coms. They seem to want longer turns. I can still link plenty of short quick turns, but these seem to be happier carving more drawn out GS style turns. I've used them once in good packed snow. They performed well on steeps. I'm pleased.
