These days every skier is looking for one pair of skis that can ski both the powder and groomers equally well with some alpine touring/hiking capability. The Q-Lab from Salomon is here to fill that void with its 104mm waist, tip and tail rocker and tapered tip design. What sets this ski apart from the Q-105 is that this ski was built with Salomon's "S" race core which is stronger and offers more edge grip. This ski is exceptionally lightweight with the Honey Comb Tip feature that both lightens the ski and helps with dampening in the chopped snow. Match these up with some Quest boots and some Guardian bindings and you will have one super awesome set up for this season!

Free Binding Mounting: We will mount you ski bindings for free whenever you order skis and bindings. If you order boots, too, we can adjust them so they are ready to hit the slopes right out of the box! Just be sure to fill out the mounting form that comes up after checkout.

Ideal Target Skier: Powder Hound: If you use your sick days only when it snows 12'' or more overnight and not when you're actually sick, this ski is probably for you. Powder Hounds are on the search for deep and untouched powder, and fat skis to ski it with.

Expert Binding Choices: Some of the binding options (i.e. the Head GTO 15) available for this ski have high din ranges that start at 8 or 9. A very small percentage of skiers will be suitable for these bindings. If you know that you usually set your din at 8 or above, you are in the clear for a high din binding. Otherwise, those bindings are for EXPERT SKIERS ONLY!

Double Titanal Layering: This ski features two layers of Titanal metal alloy, one just above the base, one just below the topsheet. This gives the ski extra stiffness and strength while creating a dampening, or shock absorbing, effect to the ski. This is usually found in the highest grade of racing and competition level freeride skis.

Sandwich Construction (SW): SW means that the sides of the skis are a vertical wall rather the the rounded Cap construction forund on most skis. Since none of the skis material needs to be exerting force maintaining shape at the edges, SW skis are stiffer than their Cap counterparts. Most people find SW skis to be damper, that is more glued to the snow, superior at high speed GS turns and top notch at busting through crud or choppy snow.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Full Wood S Race Core: Developed in the Salomon race lab, 3mm alternating laminates of poplar and ash hardwoods run the entire length of the ski giving maximum precision, stability and edge grip. This is the engine straight out of our race skis.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Tail Rocker: Just like Tip rocker, but in the tail, this feature allows the tails of the skis to release easier from the turn to give the skier the ability to turn the skis quicker in tight spots. It also allows skiers to dump speed by forcing the tails out and sliding sideways. The effective edge is reduced because of the tail rocker, so the skis will also be easier to control when forced to ski on the groomed slopes.

Extra Wide Edges: This ski employs thicker-than-average edges to hold up to the beating that you'll put them through.

Salomon Pulse Pad: A layer of rubber along the edges and in certain zones of the ski for a smoother ride and improved snow contact.

Edge Armor: Fiber reinforcements in the edges that add durability and edge hold on hard pack.

3 Choice Mount Position : The three choices are as follows. Park Mount is where the bindings are closer to dead center on the ski and is best for freeride skiers who want to ski switch a lot of the time. Manufacturer's mount is where the makers of the ski recommend you mount the bindings (usually between park and powder mount). Finally Powder mount is the furthest back on the ski which allows for more tip length and float in powder. If you wish to get more technical on where we mount your skis, please contact customer service.

Honey Comb Tip: More Float, Less Flop. This ski has a super light honeycomb/Koroyd insert, reinforced with ABS. Less weight at the extremities with increased dampening from Koroyd material which dramatically increases maneuverability and ease of steering on rockered skis.

Hook Free Taper: The widest point in the sidecut tapers in toward the tip earlier for less drag and hooking in powder. Swing weight is also reduced making the ski even more maneuverable in heavy or cruddy snow conditions.
