Double Titanal Layering: This ski features two layers of Titanal metal alloy, one just above the base, one just below the topsheet. This gives the ski extra stiffness and strength while creating a dampening, or shock absorbing, effect to the ski. This is usually found in the highest grade of racing and competition level freeride skis.

Hybrid Cap/Sandwich Construction: This ski features Cap construction at the tip and tail for added durability and to reduce topsheet chipping, and has Sandwich constuction underfoot for greater edge hold and power through the turns. Its the best of both worlds.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Skier Ability: Advanced to Expert: Skipping the blue runs to get to the black runs, but sometimes a little cautious when it gets very steep, or some hesitation when your buddy says, ''You just have to clear those rocks or else you're toast.''

Salomon Powerline Technology: Powerline is a Salomon dampening technology in which two arms running along the side of the ski absorb terrain changes, improving stability at variable speeds and terrain conditions.

Textured Surface: Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces (aka snakeskin topsheet) are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice.

Bamboo Layer: This ski has added layers of bamboo, which is known for its lightweight, long lasting durability and strength. Why you ask? Well, to stiffen up the ski without using metal and sacrificing its light weight.

Basalt Layers: This stick sandwiches basalt around the wood core, which is lighter than metals like aluminum or titanium, but still offers extra stability and dampness.

X-Chassis Tech: Carbon/Polymide diagonal reinforcement in the middle of the ski that increases torsional rigidity and prevents twisting when the ski flexes during a turn. This technology dramatically improves edge grip and stability while skiing at high speeds.

Salomon Z12 Bindings Included:
DIN: 4-12
Skier Weight Range: >108lbs
Boot Adjustment Range: 260mm-380mm

This ski comes with a pair of Z12 bindings that will compliment your ski quite well. They have din range from 4-12 and are adjustable (257-380mm) to fit almost any boot size.

Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover: This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Tip and Tail Protectors: Plastic protectors on the tip and tail increase the durability of the gear tenfold, and when someone says its dorky, just tell them that they are for nose and tail grabs, sort of like those old school skateboards.

Square Tail: These skis have a square shaped tail, which adds stability to turns on hardpack as well as very steep terrain. Probably not a park ski, though :)

I am trying to choose between the Salomon X-Drive 80 and the Salomon Q90 or 98?

I am an aggressive male all mountain skier comfortable on double blue to double black.

Height 5ft7

Do the skis ship with the bindings already mounted on the skis?
Hi there, I'm an upper intermediate skier trying to choose between the Salomon X-Drive 8.0 OR the 80 Ti. Looking for a ski that helps me improve my ability and become an advanced skier. Is there any major difference in performance skiing mainly groomed runs? Im 6"4 and 220 pounds. Thanks in advance for your advice.

great carving skisReview by from calgary
I ski at Nakiska 90% of the time so most of my runs are on hard pack and occasional ice. These are brilliant on groomed, hard pack, crud and ice. They are stable at high speed and turn very smartly. It's nice to be able to keep up with the little racers all over the hill. (Posted on 4/21/2017)
Great preformerReview by awm
Excellent Ski's was recommended these from L9 staff. Even though others recommended the Rossignol Experience 88. Glad I got these instead! They have been fantastic, light powder, trees, moguls, and our favorite in the East, ice. Holds an edge like you wouldn't believe since it doesn't have a full sidewall construction. Great at handling speeds, thanks to Titanium. I haven't had conditions this season to get above 64 mph but I'm sure they could crank up a bit more if one desired so. Easy turn initiation and exiting. For me this ski has been an underrated god-sent and I wish more people knew about it because it is so impressive. The only drawback for me is this ski is stiff(er), not terribly so, but therefore are not "playful" at slower speeds. (Posted on 3/13/2017)
Great Ski'sReview by Wayde
These are excellent all mtn ski's. Work on and off -piste, yes they do have a bit of float, stay in the pocket and you won't be flung over the front in the soft stuff. Great in the trees. Very maneuverable on the bumps. They hold an edge very well in hard pack and icy conditions. They are stiff enough so ride nice and go fast with out the chatter you get from an intermediate type ski. If you are buying one ski to use all winter - this is the ski. (Posted on 2/26/2017)
Great ski for the price Review by Some Guy
Skied on them over varying conditions: hard pack, crust and then 5" of fresh snow at Snowshoe. Very forgiving and helped me stay balanced over an edge when I lost it a bit. The only time I fell was when someone slammed into me from behind over 30 runs! (Posted on 1/30/2017)
Rock SolidReview by Sean
Took a chance on these after some online research reflecting high marks from multiple professional reviewers, and was not disappointed. Got them waxed and detuned prior to first outing. I was most impressed with how solidly the ski held its edge in a variety of situations at a variety of speeds. Equally solid across icy conditions, corduroy, and light-moderate powder. Extremely responsive both carving its natural line from edge to edge and quick turns in bumps and steeps. Tough to beat at this price point for a front side ski. (Posted on 2/23/2016)
Great RecommendationReview by jb
I broke them in on a 4 day trip to Mammoth over New Year's and the skis handled everything I threw at them. Staff were great in helping me select skis that matched my ability over two different phone calls. I now have a great pair of skis. (Posted on 1/25/2016)
Very GoodReview by kram
Performed brilliantly at A Basin. I rented at the Ski Shop in Idaho Springs CO. Looking to buy at a good price. (Posted on 12/23/2015)
