With back country skiing interest on the rise, Salomon has been cranking out awesome product to meet this demand. The Quest 120 is grippy alpine sole boot (as opposed to a Tech Sole) with a hike/ski feature for easy walking and hiking without losing any performance when skiing downhill. The Quest has a 100mm last and a 120 flex which is ideal for advanced to expert skiers looking for a a more performance oriented fit. This is a fantastic boot for skiers who do want to fully commit to a touring setup since they will only go on a handful of backcountry excursions per season.

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Description

Details

100mm last: A performance width for advanced recreational skiers all the way up to expert level skiers. This is also suitable for skiers with narrower than average feet.

120 Flex Rating: This boot is too stiff for beginners and even most intermediates. At this flex, the skier should be advanced to expert level, comfortable skiing at high speeds anywhere on the mountain.

SCS and Full EVA Padding: Padded to perfection. Achieve the highest level of shock absorption and precise energy transmission straight to your edges.

50mm Power Strap: This power strap is huge! 50mm means a lot of power, and acts like an extra buckle to keep the top of the boot together. The strap helps transmit power to the turn and better control while skiing.

Tongue Pull: A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.

Micro-adjustable alloy buckles: These alloy buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

Adjustable rear spoiler: With the turn of an allen key, the height at the top rear of the boot can be adjusted. If you are taller than average for your boot size, or if you just want the extra support at the back of the leg, you can adjust the spoiler up about 1cm from standard. This will also pitch you forward slightly into a more aggressive stance.

Single Canting: One adjustment bolt on the outside of the ankle helps compensate for bow-legs or knock-knees. This tilts the cuff of the boot left or right while keeping the base of the skis flat on the snow.

My Custom Fit Liner Pro:: The stiffest and most responsive of Salomon's Custom fit liners, this liner will provide good performance and can be molded to the shape of your foot for the perfect blend of comfort and tight-fitting performance.

Biovent Liner: This liner is highly breathable thanks to multiple layers of foam and wicking materials. Dry feet lead to warm feet, so these liners are warmer than standard liners.

Hike and Ride Technology: A flip lever at the back spine of the boot has a toggle to switch from Ski or Walk mode. Try to keep it in ski mode while skiing, or it might feel a little funny skiing in the back-seat like its nobody's business! This does make walking around the resort looking for the bar or the kids a little more comfortable.

Backbone Technology: There is a magnesium piece linking the upper cuff to the lower shell providing back support for better rebound coming out of the turn (rebound effect) and enabling a progressive but powerful forward flex.

I was nervous about buying any ski boot online without trying on first but I went ahead and ordered and just got them in. I couldn't be happier. They are extremely comfortable, lightweight and I haven't even heat molded them yet. I have a medium-width foot and I am between an 11.5 and 12 on shoe size but this boot leaves plenty of room in the toe box for me and is easily the most comfortable boot I've walked in. L9 sports is the best! Just getting back into skiing after being away from the hills for 20 years. I order everything online. L9 was patient with me as I explored what ski's. binding, and boots I should get.Technology had changed so much, that I was clueless at first, but the patient customer service phone staff gave me great advice! Couldn't be happier with the Solomon Quest 120! Great performance fit plus a great price. L9 has become my go to place to buy equipment. I have outfitted myself and 2 daughters at more than half the cost if I tried to do it locally here in Wisconsin. Thanks L9! (Posted on 1/20/2015)
