The Salomon X Lab is a Top Notch Race boot for those skiers who are always trying to improve their form to shave seconds off of their last time trial. In other words, this is a stiff performance oriented boot that requires an aggressive skier in search of a precise fitting boot. It's got a 130 flex and a narrow 95mm last (OP means Low Volume) which is stiff with a tight fit for maximum control and response while carving turns. The My Custom Fit World Cup liner is heat moldable and will provide excellent transmission between your foot, the boot and the ski. We recommend this boot to Racers and aggressive skiers looking for the tightest fitting boot they can find, if your looking for comfort, this isn't the boot for you!

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Description

Details

130 Flex Rating: Higher than average stiffness means you should be skiing pretty fast to warrant a boot of this flex.

95mm Last Width: This last provides a race style fit, which means its narrow and the opposite of roomy. This should only be for advanced to expert skiers that either have narrow feet, or can endure the pain of narrow boots.

45mm Strap: Super wide strap found on high performance boots. The extra width spreads out the force while skiing and reduces the pressure point on the upper shin.

Two Bolt Flex Adjust: One or both bolts at the back of the boot spine can be removed or added to adjust the flex of the boot. The boot is softer when the bolts are out, and stiffer when screwed into the shell.

Custom Race Kit : These boots take some work to get them to fit comfortably so Salomon has included some accessories to help in that process. Additional Sets of Shin Plates, Rear Spoilers and heel lifters come inside the box. Shin plates reinforce forward support and stiffen flex while rear spoilers increase forward lean by 2° and adjust height. Heel lifters improve skiing stance.

Micro-Adjustable Titanium Buckles: To micro adjust the length of the buckles for a precise and personalized closure, just turn the lever (righty-tighty, lefty-loosy). This Titanium buckle is one of the lightest

World Cup Advanced Shell Technology: This is a more powerful version of the Advanced Shell technology with improvement on the back support, the body positioning into the boot and the torsion control of the boot. This kind of construction is designed to transfer the maximum of power from the skier to the ski.

Backbone Technology: There is a magnesium piece linking the upper cuff to the lower shell providing back support for better rebound coming out of the turn (rebound effect) and enabling a progressive but powerful forward flex.

24mm Oversize Pivot: Significantly larger than standard canting bolts, Salomon's 24mm Oversized Pivot helps align your boots for the most precise and efficient energy transfer between your boot and the ski. The larger diameter helps with wider skis since the torque on your boot is much higher.

My Custom Fit Race Liner: The best liner in Salomon's line, it will mold to the skier's feet but isn't too cushy so its response in combination with a stiff shell will allow the skier to ski as aggressively as they can.

The X max 130's I have are 28.5 's .Understand that the X Lab's are plug boots and would need punching., but do they fit length same as the X- Max 130''s Also sole lifters can you supply ?

I have a pair of X-Max 130's Two years on them with Surefoot Low volume foam liners. They are a great boot. Looking to get a spare set of race boots to break in Are these X-Lab shells also heat mold-able or are they more of a tech punch type.

I'd like to echo the above 2 posts on why it's a good idea to buy these boots.
I can't add any more experienced feedback for fitted boots but if you're new to that business, read on. I added a couple of my experiences that I wish I knew going into it all.

- Spend the money and go with someone like Surefoot. I tried to go with a heat molded foot bed and blow out the hot spots, etc. but that was a waste of time and money and the company that put them in the press to blow them out, missed the hot spot, so there's extra volume where I don't need it, for no reason. The take-away is if you're looking for this kind of boot, you're probably going to have some pretty unique requests of the boot fitter and even though those requests sound normal to an un-skilled fitter, they're apparently really hard to do right and it's worth the extra money to just do it right in the first place.
- I'm still working on getting mine set up right but they're great boots, already, just a bit uncomfortable and need minor adjustments.
After I bought them, I could only ski for a couple hours at a time and had to throw on my old boots.
I would suggest the foot bed, right after you put the receipt for these boots in your pocket. They were pretty brutal on my foot without and were pretty close to not painful with just a foot bed.
I think the most important bit there was the increase in height, vs the bed that came with the boot. It helped to lift my foot into the right place. It helped quicken up the boot a bit and it seems to have helped put the ski in the state I expect, when it's loaded up.

I'd highly recommend these! (Posted on 2/10/2017)

These boots are designed to be narrow in the footbed and tight in the ankle and over foot. Off this shelf this means they will be uncomfortable - they must be professionally fitted by a group like Surefoot. A custom footbed his highly recommended. But once done, these boots will hold your foot in place and provide all the power transfer a top skier will demand. The additional accessories - laces, shin plate, toe and heel plates and forward cant spoilers will allow you to make them yours. These boots are very comfortable as my all-day boots now that they are "dialed in" and provide great performance in any skiing condition. HIGHLY recommend for a top skier/racer and those seeking a true custom fit. (Posted on 2/18/2015)

Once this boot is fitted(stretched) correctly it is one of the Top Ski boots you you can buy period. it is a powerful yet very comfortable boot . You can down size one full size from your normal size. It helps to use a heated boot bag to put on and i use silicone spray on the liner . The feel on now is extraordinary. It helps to try different angle bindings cants before shaving the sloe lugs. These boot fit like a slipper if fitted by someone familiar with race plug boots. I bought a second pair to start breaking in. They are rat good (Posted on 2/17/2015)
