The Salomon X Max 100 is a low profile, fully customizeable boot (that's right, the shell AND liner are heat moldable) designed for advanced to expert skiers looking for the most precise fit. This boot has a 100 flex rating which offers sufficient support for aggressive skiers with a 98mm last that can expand a few mm's when heat molded (which can be done at any local Salomon dealer). The X Max 100 also features Salomon's Propietary "Oversized Pivot" that will allow the boot to flex more naturally during a turn, which in turn, makes turning feel more natural.

This chart provides a safe comfortable size that most all skiers will be able to use. If you are looking for a true skier's performance fit you may want to size down one half to one full size smaller. For most ski boots, the full (.0) size uses the same shell and liner as the half (.5) size (like, 25.0 and 25.5) and will have almost an identical fit.

Details

100 Flex Rating: This boot is pretty stiff, but not insanely stiff. A boot of this level is pretty good for upper-intermediate to expert level weekend warrior that is looking for something stiff enough to provide high-end response, while being wearable for an entire day of skiing.

98mm last: Forefoot width of 98mm for racing performance, not as concerned about comfort, although modern boots do a great job of keeping their performance boots quite comfortable.

Tongue Pull: A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.

35mm strap: Wider than average strap at the top of the boot to help keep the boot together and to give good performance while skiing.

Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles: These aluminum buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.

Replaceable Toe and Heel Pads: This is a must-have for skiers that don't live in ski in/ski out condos. When your ski tech tells you that you have to buy new boots because the soles are worn down too much, just laugh at him and tell him to order you a new set of sole plates.

My Custom Fit Liner Pro:: The stiffest and most responsive of Salomon's Custom fit liners, this liner will provide good performance and can be molded to the shape of your foot for the perfect blend of comfort and tight-fitting performance.

Salomon Custom Shell: With some heating from a professional boot fitter's oven, the shell of this boot can be custom fitted to the exact needs of the skier. The mid to forefoot area can stretch, and at the widest point, the dimension will go from 100mm to about 106mm. Did the guy at the ski shop tell you that you need custom fitted boots? Well, here you go.

24mm Oversize Pivot: Significantly larger than standard canting bolts, Salomon's 24mm Oversized Pivot helps align your boots for the most precise and efficient energy transfer between your boot and the ski. The larger diameter helps with wider skis since the torque on your boot is much higher.

My Custom Fit Race Liner: The best liner in Salomon's line, it will mold to the skier's feet but isn't too cushy so its response in combination with a stiff shell will allow the skier to ski as aggressively as they can.

heel and toe plates unsafe after 30 days of skiingReview by ex salomon customer

Heel and toe plates wear out at an unacceptable rate, 30 days of skiing in these boots and now they are unsafe. Avoid salomon boots (Posted on 2/27/2016)

Outsole is so thin (5mm) that wears out in just 4-5 days of walking to the lift area. Replacing outsole cost $50 and Salomon warranty will deny your claim and call it "normal wear and tear", which is BS. I never had this problem with any other boots I owned. Stay away from Salomon. Not my top choiceReview by jpk

The boots are great for a narrow foot but I have some problems with them. The liner crushed on me when I put my foot in them and will bunch up. Should not do that. There is no back loop strap to hold the liner up. Very tight sliding my foot in them and the boot shell can cut into the top of your foot when putting them on. Both angle bones have pressure points that hurt from rubbing at the end of the day. (Posted on 12/29/2015)
Great Boots for narrow foot, great price on L9Review by brimar

Bought these boots because my previous ones were too large. These are great for a narrow foot and lower volume. They have the heat moldable inserts too, but I didn't even need to do that. Just put them on and go! (Posted on 3/21/2015)
Great set of boots Review by Mike

Boots are super comfortable, you can easily spend all day in them.I have a long narrow foot which they fit great and I haven't even had them molded yet. The extra large hinge makes flex even more responsive in powder and even groomed trails (Posted on 1/27/2015)
Great fit right out of the box.Review by johnstiggs

There is really no slop in these boots. The heel cup fit is fantastic and overall they fit nice and snug right out of the box, with no hot spots. I will say though, they run stiff of course and the liner is nowhere near an all terrain park boot. That being said, they are much more responsive and walking in them is a breeze.
